He had another two-year old winner yesterday at Del Mar (Victory U.S.A.--1:10.34) and one last week at Saratoga with Hennig.

Are you surprised his offspring are doing so well this early in what are really essentially only sprint races when he himself was a Belmont winner?

Silver Charm,
Not a Belmont winner.

TGJB

Yes, I am surprised, although I am no expert in that end of it (correlating race track success/tendencies with those of offspring). Worth noting that the matings for VG\'s first two books of mares were done by Rich Decker, who did the same for the first two crops of Distorted Humor, including FC, and he is of the opinion that VG\'s runners will be more precocious than DH\'s, based on the conformation of the two horses themselves.

TGJB

Wrongly

Don\'t be so surprised.  Victory Gallop broke his maiden at first asking running 1:26.87 for 7 furlongs at Laurel.  I saw his second lifetime race on opening day at Colonial where he ran 1:22.74 for 7 furlongs.  What made his performance so impressive is that he was the only colt to overcome the speed favoring track that day.  Victory Gallop was no plodder, only winning when the pace falls apart, he had speed.

This was posted by Tabitha who clearly had a little magic going for her.

\"I think the further you get away from Prospector the better chance you have to breed a classic horse.\"

We have three new sires who fit that mold and all three are doing very well.

Grand Slam
Distorted Humor
Victory Gallop

Victory Gallop is actually a little further down the Prospector line than the other two.

Also looking at the sires and trainers is interesting.

Gone West---Woody Stephens
Grand Slam---D. Wayne Lukas

Forty Niner---Woody Stephens
Distorted Humor---Elliot Walden

Cryptoclearance---Scotty Schulhofer
Victory Gallop---Elliot Walden

These men were/are class acts and pure hay and oats guys.

The bar has been set very high

Very true about the \"pure hay and oats guys.\"
Makes you wonder what kind of sires those horses that are now in the barns of the \"super trainers\" will be.
