More mixed signals from TAP barn.Put the names in a hit, pick a few and box them this derby, you will not win handicapping unless you have extreme luck.Wish I was a bookmaker this year.

Devil May Care May Be Entered in Oaks, Derby

One day after announcing that Glencrest Farm's filly Devil May Care would be entered only in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), trainer Todd Pletcher is considering cross-entering the daughter of Malibu Moon   in the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) also.

Prior to taking his Derby and Oaks horses out to the track for exercise on the morning of Tuesday, April 27, Pletcher said he was still undecided on whether Devil May Care would be entered in the Oaks. \"I don't know what I'm going to do,\" Pletcher said. The post position draw for the Oaks is scheduled for 11 a.m. April 27.

The fact that Pletcher is considering cross-entering is a change from what was announced Monday, April 26, when the trainer and Glencrest Farm's John Greathouse said they had decided to enter only in the Kentucky Derby.

Greathouse said Tuesday morning that was going to leave the final decision on which races to enter up to Pletcher.

If Devil May Care is entered in both races, jockey John Velazquez would be named to ride. Since he cannot be named on two horses in the Oaks, Garrett Gomez would be named to ride Starlight Partners Ailalea in the Oaks. If Devil May Care is entered only in the Derby, Velazquez would be named on Ailalea.

Devil May Care has won three of five starts, including the Frizette Stakes (gr. I) and Bonnie Miss Stakes (gr. II).

Greathouse yesterday says his wife thinks it\'s bad kharma to enter in both races possibly excluding another horse out of a spot.That\'s why he was entering Derby only.

Guess she changed her mind.

Old news.  That was an hour ago!  : )

Now it is Derby only again.

Not sure if she wants the distance either.  Doesn\'t seem to run straight down the lane, does she?

One of the workout reports(Welsh possibly) suggested that the blinkers solved this issue.
