Another example that is \"the definition of stupidity\".

I get all of your points Jimbo, and its frustrating to me too. I am hoping that she ships and faces RA.

But that is a separate debate. To label her a synthetics only horse, and not acknowledge her as a special horse...ridiculous.

Frank,
I was being sarcastic, but no offense taken.

Silver,
Flawlessly, Azeri, Personal Ensign, Ruffian, Ouija Board, Zarkava, etc. Great fillies/mares come in many varieties.  Ouija Board and Zarkava were strictly turf monsters, yet, they weren\'t minimized because they were turf specialists.  It also hasn\'t seemed to hurt their legacies.
Who knows, maybe in 5 years Zenyatta will be mentioned in the same breath as those aforementioned horses, with the stipulation that she was an incredible artificial surface(s) runner.  I think the connections can live with that.

Silver,
It\'s great to see that you are at least willing to suggest Z could be great.  I mean that sincerely, not as a smart aleck remark.
I really like Rachel, no question she is the real deal.  Until the race/date is set where Rachel and Z get matched up, I worry a little about Rachel staying sharp. She\'s getting a lot of miles on her right now and a couple more head knockers and she is subject to being over the top.
Zenyatta\'s style suggests that she will continue to just have sustained closes, and logic says she will 99% fire every single time. I do think the 129# and the 9f race last weekend took something out of her though.  I would expect her to be a little flat next trip.

I\'ve played on a synthetic golf course. Forget it.

It took 8 hours to finish the first 17 holes, then all of the day\'s foursomes jammed up on the last hole in a 32-wide push to the last green...golf balls flying everywhere, bumper-to-bumper golf carts.

Then it got weird.

Ill-bred

The synthetics are an abomination, but Zenyatta is for real. Her one dirt race was top notch. Synthetic haters, Zenyatta is not your target.

The only thing I could criticize about Zenyatta\'s career is that her human connections have so far not given her a chance to prove how great she is.

Not sure if this theory is supported by the TG #s, but I think she would have won BC Classic last year.

Silver Charm

Listen she is getting closer and closer to being a really great one.

One of the \"Greatest Ever\" requires more however. And when I say \"Greatest Ever\" I mean top 10-20 ever in any category you like. But this requires taking risks.

A ship East to Belmont in early Sept to take on RA is a start. A ship back west to the BC Classic and another win there closes the deal.

The owner Moss seems like the Greatest of Sportman. I don\'t care how many gold records he cut he will never have something that gives him this much of thrill or push onto the National Stage.

He will only have this one chance and he better take it now.

Silver,

Rachel has proven that she loves the Belmont surface.  I\'m not sure if that surface is an asset or a liability for Zenyatta, yet I Want Revenge made a huge jump up moving from artificial to dirt, but you never know.  There\'s no question Zenyatta is a vastly superior animal than IWR.  I agree with the earlier post by someone that Z\'s best career race was on the dirt at OP (don\'t know the TG number, but my numbers show it as her best race).  The sheer size of the Belmont track probably helps Zenyatta against most animals, but clearly Rachel is not a normal animal.
Since purse money plays absolutely no part in the lives of Mr. Jackson or Mr. Moss, I\'d love to see 2 filthy rich sportsmen square off in a race of this magnitude and donate the purse money to some worthy horseracing cause.
At this point, the really fun thing is the connections seem to be serious about this mega-meeting.  The pre-race buildup and volleying back and forth among players and fans would be intense.

Covel, this was a great thread, lots of comments considering the board has been kinda dead for a bit.

BB

Jim, I\'m not saying she\'s better than Rachel. They can both quit right now and I\'d say they are both great, without qualification. Not so for you, but that\'s OK. I do hope Moss lines up a good dirt race or two, and that Rachel and some fast colts show up, and that it\'s \"fast\". That would kick ass!

BB

What a sport! That\'s extremely disappointing. It seems as though Moss is letting Sheriffs play the heavy so that he can save face and have things her way. Crap!

I understand what you are saying, but I don\'t think the criticism of Zenyatta is a criticism of synthetics (though obviously that comes up because how could it not?). If she was running on real dirt or turf and beating the same four horses in California over and over, her consistency would be respected but she wouldn\'t have proven her superiority over the best horses in the country or that she is an all-time great as some claim. The fact that she\'s winning on synthetic tracks is just another negative because we can\'t even compare her to most of the other top horses who are running on dirt. That is how the synthetic criticism and criticism of the horse\'s cowardly management come together, but even if you loved synthetic tracks the rest of the criticism is still valid, IMO.
