The Florida legislature passed a gambling bill today that allows quarterhorse racing at Hialeah, and thoroughbred racing starting in 2011 (as well as slots, etc.).

Track is in really, really bad shape.  But, would love to see racing there again.  I\'m told the flamingos are still in residence.

Quarterhorse Racing at Hialeah? Can I order spam at the Old Homestead or
Peter Luger\'s today?

Florida obviously covering its ass in case Frankstream Park becomes a victim
of Chapter 11. A recent Beyer article pointed out that Churchill Downs Inc is
not likely to be a player in purchasing some of the Magna properties.

Can only hope that if Hialeah is reopened, they do it the right way. This was
once a beautiful facility with a main track which horsemen loved to race and train over.
