Regal Ransom will run

I just watched the replay of his UAE Derby win and his maiden win.

This horse is a tough customer.  He wasn\'t exactly loose on the lead in the UAE Derby as he had a horse bird dogging him from the outside most of the way around and then he skirted away from that one at the top of the stretch and then held off Desert Party all the way through the gallop out.  He never let Desert Party go by him.  Also faced pressure most of the way around in his maiden win.

This horse has an intruiging sheet with the ability to move forward with the pairing of his 2 year old top in the last.  He should be forwardly placed which will allow him to save ground and I think his pedigree for 1 1/4 is better than people think with Deputy Minister down there on the bottom side.

What do people think we get on him, 15-1 or higher?

Covelj,

Higher.  Much higher.  25 to 1.  Possibly more if the Pletcher \"rabbit\" run.  (if RR is viewed as lone speed he will get some action.

I agree with this analysis.

Regal Ransom is also an extremely late foal (May 24), and could just be maturing into the racehorse he will be.

When thinking of the trouble Desert Party had getting by Regal Ransom in the UAE Derby after besting him in two earlier races, my mind drifted back to the 2007 Kentucky Cup, when Hard Spun was able to turn the tables on Street Sense for the first time.

There were a lot of excuses made that day for Street Sense (short field, surface, it was essentially a paid workout/prep for the BCC).  Guess what. Four weeks later at Monmouth, Street Sense still couldn\'t get by Hard Spun, and probably never would have again had they continued racing into their 4YO seasons.  The horses were just going in different directions.

I hate the shipping from Dubai angle, but looking at his sheet and other factors, there is a lot to like about Regal Ransom.

I think you may see 25-1 on him.
