If you correctly guessed this fine did not take place in the U. S., pat yourself on the back. It was South Africa.

This is the way to handle cheaters!

Here is the story on the ruling this week, as follows:

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Port Elizabeth on 12 March 2009, Trainer F J Roux was charged with a contravention of rule 73.2.4 in that he was the trainer responsible for the horse GOLDEN HIND, at the time when a specimen taken from this horse after it participated in the 7th race at Fairview Racecourse on 14 December 2008, disclosed upon analysis the presence of Furosemide which is a prohibited substance in terms of the Rules of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa.

Mr Roux pleaded guilty to the above charge.

The Inquiry Board found Trainer Roux guilty of the charge and imposed a fine of R65 000,00.
