First of all, this is NOTHING for Scott Lake. He\'s had many-- MANY which dwarf this in terms of move-ups over the years.

Now, you can make the case that this was just good training (and some will). But a) when the filly made that jump she didn\'t even bounce, which is extremely unusual, an b) AGAIN-- I don\'t draw conclusions from one of these, or even two. When you see tons of these I do.

Dumb question - but I can\'t find the symbol in the \"Symbol Sheet\" -  what does an empty square box indicate for the race on Sunday at PHA?  Thanks.

TGJB

Square means no figure, in this case not done yet.

Whats interesting about this horse is he was being trained by Feliciano who is also a very high percentage/move up trainer on the Del/MD circuit.

I think it would be interesting if people volunteer other similar sheets if and when they see them.  Then perhaps we can determine trends and patterns.

To me, the thing that caught my eye about the sheet is how stark the difference is between pre-Lake and post-Lake.  It really looks like two completely different horses.

Also, I wonder if it has something to do with where the horse runs.  For example, Felicano was only running in Md and CT...Lake goes to Delaware for the first three races and that is the place of the most marked improvement and sustained elevated performance level.  Then, Delaware closes, and Lake must run the horse somewhere else....he chooses Laurel and then the horse starts a very slow tail off.  I wonder if it is possible to determine if there is a relationship between stark moves and changes in jurisdiction.

Again, studying this all on here together in the open may bring some sunlight/disinfectant.  Plus, it is actually helpful to improving people\'s handicapping skills which is the purpose of this board afterall.

In terms of Feliciano, what are peoples\' take that Lake was able to get such improvement off a horse taken from a 30% trainer?  Also, is it relevant that the horse was not a claimer (at least not at the time of the transfer)?

Cracks me up that the horse was 9.2-to-1 first out for Lake.

Is there a place I can get a list of approved medications for each circuit and an analysis of the benefits (in layman\'s terms)?

There are a handful of circuits where horses that earn fast figures often fail to reproduce them when shipped elsewhere.

The problem is that it\'s hard to determine whether that\'s a legal drug issue, illegal drug issue, or something specific to that track (like a speed favoring surface).

Many people point to horses from Delaware as often not being able to reproduce their form in NY even when the trainer is one of the high percentage guys in NY. But some do.

Is there something they can legally give horses in Delaware that may be helping some specific horses, but not others, that would account for some holding their form and others deteriorating?

Also, if some of these guys are doing illegal things in NY with success, why aren\'t they doing the same things to their Delaware horses?

Cart,

Lots of theories as to why they don\'t transfer from Delaware.Probably juicing there but not elsewhere is my guess.Quite a few Philly Park horses trained by Tony Dutrow have run to their form/figs when shipped to NY this winter.

For rules/drugs permitted for NY racing go to this link http://www.racing.state.ny.us/stats/August2007%20FINAL2.pdf

Most venues very close in what they permit now days(kentucky was awful just a few years ago).Cali permits the move up drug, bute, most other venues do not, ahem, crusader Dr. Arthur.

It\'s the different level testing that may be the cause. Delaware has been a cesspool for years. Don\'t gamble there but people who race there tell me it\'s drug city.
