And a suggestion for those who were holding out hope that this was a legit play:

Find an easier game, this one is too hard for ya.

Today\'s drf article referred to Mr. Davis as a \"self-employed computer technician.\" The plot thickens...  HP

FYI

NEW YORK, Oct 31 (Reuters) - Scientific Games Corp. (NasdaqNM:SGMS - News), a leading maker and operator of horserace betting equipment, on Thursday said it had uncovered potential evidence of wrongdoing by an employee in connection with a suspicious large winning bet on the Breeders\' Cup race last weekend.

The company said it had terminated an employee as a result and has turned over its findings to the New York State Racing and Wagering Board and the New York State Police.

The state board has been investigating a \"Pick 6\" wager on last Saturday\'s Breeders\' Cup race after it was learned that all six winning tickets were bought by the same person through a New York OTB telephone betting system in the Catskill Mountain region. The six winning tickets were valued at more than $2.5 million.

Shares of Scientific Games, based in New York, were halted on Nasdaq shortly after issuing its statement. The stock had been down 65 cents, or nearly 8 percent, at $7.54 before trading was stopped.

The surprise, although it shouldn\'t be one, is the sad state of affairs in what passes for investigative journalism in this country. Of all the articles written, only one author, Greg Sandoval of the Wash Post, bothered to take the time to contact an expert who, in addition to confirming that all digital computer systems are subject to attack, indicated that \"in many cases hackers are aided in their efforts by people with inside information.\" What I still want to know & this initial press release doesn\'t address is exactly how they did it, whether others were involved, whether they did it previously, whether Scientific Games turned this guy over to the feds when it turned over its findings, how long before Davis is arrested, when are their assests & bank accts going to be frozen etc, etc. I also want to know how long before Groth & Pierce(it couldn\'t happen at Autotote) are demoted to a job equivalent to cleaning the restrooms at an OTB. Strike that. Most of the people who do that kind of job are honest hardworking immigrants trying to make some kind of a living, not political hacks and/or execs who are too stupid to have even a mild understanding or familiarity with the businesses they are supposed to be in charge of.

HP

I bet (not through Autotote) that Groth (at least) will be fired, based on his original comments, which were truly incredible. The stock of Scientific Games (SGMS - NASDAQ National Market) has been halted for trading. I\'m sure we\'ll hear more details soon. HP

HP

Check that, I meant to say the stock has resumed trading and is down 10%. HP

Groth is either an idiot (being kind) or knew something. PickEm\'

Since the system itself is so poorly designed, it is trivial to insert the winning #\'s after the fact. A 15 year old could do it with access to the datacase.

I\'d link you to the article if I knew how, but I copied this web address: msnbc.com/news/828779.asp#BODY

The most interesting new info is that the insider was fired for failure to cooperate, that the link between the insider & Davis hasn\'t been proved yet, that NY investigators are reviewing \"dozens\" of other suspicious wagers, & that regulators in other jurisdictions are scrutinizing their multiple wagers. Little did we know that the takeout % was even more confiscatory than it appeared.

HP: Your last post & the earlier one re the Euro Bounce has me half convinced that you\'re spending too much time on things other than doping races & reading about racing. What\'s up with that?

HP

Mall,

That\'s funny. My boss thinks I\'m spending too much time doping races and reading about racing. HP
