Whatever War Pass\' clunker was about (and I have found in my dealings with hundreds of horses over they years that 100% of the time when they run that bad a physical reason shows up eventually, whether it\'s a long term problem or not), it\'s unlikely he spiked a fever within a week of the race. Others on this board might want to chime in, but if a horse is given antibiotics it knocks him out worse than the fever, short term. Very unlikely anyone would run any horse a few days later, let alone War Pass, in a race they could easily skip.

Silver Charm

I\'m not Barry but you asked so I will chime in. I did not see him favoring anything. The lead switches were on cue. He only had one work after the last race(if you call it one) which is very very light training for a Derby contender in March.

If I had to guess (and this is a guess) they have been battling shins or some other chronic inflammation since the efforts last year. As easy as that first race was it just flamed everything back up again. So now damned if you do damned if you don\'t. Race and you may make it worse, not race and you miss the Triple Crown.

They took a shot and now the Fever is everyone else catching Derby Fever.
