Unlike the time of the Lawyer Ron race or the speed figure about to be assigned, there is not doubt about the fact the Mall did it once again. He WINS THE EMERALD DOWNS CONTEST ON ABOUT 3 Hours sleep.

Congratulations to UNCLE MALL for winning the Emerald Downs Handicapping contest and qualifying for the NTRA/DRF tournament for the fourth year in a row. Also qualifying was Henry Damgaard (AKA DEHERE). Both used TG as part of there handicapping arsenal to Qualify. Rumor has it Mall beat a couple of Raggies to gain the top spot.

To qualify for the fourth consecutive year means one of two things, either he\'s got too much time on his hands or the man is an incredible handicapper.

Way to go Mall!!

Thanks nc, but all of the credit for the sheet reads goes to you & Henry, particularly when it comes to the 9-1 winner of the 7th at Dmr, which was the race where I used my last optional play. Henry was ahead of me at the time, and even though he liked the horse as well, suggested I put the horse on my entry since: he had three bullets remaining, there were still three races left at Dmr, & that would be the best strategy for the team. Quite a gesture from the kind of guy it\'s nice to have as a partner.

Henry\'s clutch plays down the stretch after learning he still needed $20 or so to qualify were more impressive than anything I did on Sunday. Assuming I copied it down correctly, there\'s a brief story at http:www.emdowns.com/?cat=6&id=1321&type=news

The real contest story of the weekend, however, was John Buckley playing one entry to win the Gold Coast & take home the $80k 1st prize check for the 2nd yr in a row. Previously, no one had ever won what I learned is a grueling 3 day contest twice, which makes John\'s back to back victories even more impressive & improbable than the feat I\'ve always thought was number one, namely winning two nhc qualifying contests on the same day, something Bill Shurman, who won the $6k entry Dmr contest on Sun, was able to do when he won the Youbet online contest while he was winning the Bradley Autotote contest three or four yrs ago.

At least we won\'t have to deal with those two at the Cnl contest on Sat, although I see that team Wolfson is now entered. I haven\'t recovered yet from this past weekend, but I\'m already looking forward to Sat. See you then.

Great job Mall! Team Michelson missed you at Keeneland (where we were in it to the bitter end but fell short) and now know what you were up to. Won\'t see you at Colonial as I have a not-for-money tennis competition to deal with.

Point of clarification: Paul Shurman brother of Bill who impressively won the Del Mar event is the handicapper who won two titles in a single day last year.

Congrats again and see you on the circuit in the fall.

Mall thumbs up from me also.

Tell Ian Meyers and Co. I said hey also. I am far too neglectful for not staying in touch as much as I should.

And Jamie weigh in from time-to-time yourself. For a guy who is a former Champion and has his own slot on the front page of this site.

You probably have a lot to say.......

Thanks guys, and tell your father I said hello Jamie. I have an excuse, such as it is, for confusing Paul, who I\'ve never met, and Bill, who I don\'t really know but have at least met & would recognize. At the Beu contest last Dec, a fellow who told me he was sitting next to Paul at Autotote offered to introduce me, only to lead me to ncTony who, I\'m pretty sure, doesn\'t look like either Paul or Bill, neither of whom are presumably related to Mitch of the missing r Schuman. You might have decided on the right competition for Sat, as I see this morning that team Scanio is making the trip from Brooklyn. Mr.Scanio, you may recall, qualified a remarkable 5 times for the nhc held this past Jan. Good luck on your tennis tournament.
