What a Joke

A million dollar purse, a prestigious race.

A f---ing joke.

Just read in the form that blueblood owner Lawrence Roman will enter something
called \"Digger\" in next weeks Belmont Stakes. Digger is 2/8 lifetime and was
purchased by owner Roman recently. Owner Roman thinks that Digger will liven up
the race and help the fans get over the fact that this final Triple Crown race
is without much drama.`Digger is trained by R Dutrow.

To add to the drama, Roman asked 64 year old hall of fame rider A Cordero to
ride Digger. Cordero declined.

Roman admits that Digger probably doesn\'t belong in the race, but promises that
he will be prominent in the early stages.

All of the 3YOs nominated to the Triple Crown, all the stud fees, all the
auction dollars spent, and what is left for Belmont Stakes? A potential
superstar who will run at unbettable odds, a spent speed horse who could have
gotten the trip if fresh,3 runners who are clearly slower and less classy, and
an entrant who will not be ridden by Cordero, and who will, to quote Tim
Conway \"Run like the breaking wind\".

UPDATE: If Nafzger/Tafel looked at it closely, Street Sense had 1 horse to beat
in the Belmont, and Curlin still must be considered a bounce candidate. I think
even if only at 90% of capacity, SS still outclasses and outkicks Sedgefield,
Tiago and Imwildcrazetc. The timing of this race is not good for any of the
Derby Preakness Trio. Simple choice, because a hard Belmont run makes the BC
Classic a tight objective for a conservative trainer, and the old guys wanted to
have some summer fall fun. What is the record of all Bel Stakes runners in the
BC Classic? The Sheiks probably already own a large piece of this one.

Curlin: A bounce candidate at 3/5 odds, ridden by Robbie Albarado, either a
P4/P6 key or a toss--no middle ground.

Hard Spun... spent in Derby, sucked along in Preakness. No better than third
here IMO

Tiago (NW3LT)(while he was galloping out at CD, the ones he was passing were
exhausted or gearing down--optical illusion??)(not flattered by KOTR\'s
Preakness); Imwildetc (2 lifetime wins, both at CRC, both as a 2YO, how many
Bel Stakes winners were winless as 3YOs)? Sedgefield NW3LT, representing Team
Synthetic, has never won on the dirt.

Finally a last word here. Where have you gone Todd Pletcher? Shame on you if
for all of your equine reesources you have not identified A SINGLE 3YO who is
cut out for this distance. This is not a hard race, and CQ (protected himself
in first 2 legs of Triple Crown, should be fresh LOL) and Rags to Riches (might
get off the schneid by being contrarian), could she be as good as Ashado or Wait
a While were as 3YOs?)
