Anyone think the outcome of this weekends Stakes race at Keeneland is anything more than that?

There has never been a race with this big a purse restricted to three olds only in the US. EVER.....

So what will it tell us. It will tell us who the fastest three year in the US on Polytrack is and nothing more. Ask some Trainers whose horses ran poorly in the Lanes End at Turfway what it told them and they will probably tell you they have no idea. As in we need to stop on the horse, train him harder, whatever. What they will likely say is they need to run him one more time and then they will be able to tell you.

Having said that I like Great Hunter on Saturday but Street Sense over Great Hunter on Derby Day. Great Hunter is equiped with an extremely quick 3/16th\'s of a mile burst that gives him a great tactical edge. No wonder he won the Breeders Futurity at Keeneland at two where they face the short stretch.

The Derby is usually quite different. A more extended drive is usually required.

Great Hunter has yet to prove he has one.

Sandreadis

but I think Dominican can run with these 2 on the KEE poly surface. The Rushaway(first time gelding) was outstanding. He closed gound with a quick turn of foot on a day when speed was winning everything. His 8 1/2 time was very comparable to Hard Spun\'s 9 furlong time. I thought he was a little tardy at the break and waited for running room in the far turn, angled out and drew off by 5.
Dominican broke his maiden on the KEE poly. I\'m not saying this is a Derby horse but on a day when the 2 heavy favorites are looking forward to their next start, this gelding might surprise some people at 10 or 15/1.
