TG pace figs?

If I remember accurately, about a year or so ago JB mentioned possibly coming out with pace figs using TG criteria.  With the DRF about to offer Moss pace figs, I wonder if the TG plan is still in the works. Moss says he uses the Beyer variant for the race for his figs.  Personally, I\'ve been using my own rough, handmade set of pace figs in conjunction with my hard copy TG for the past month or so, and find them very helpful in getting a clearer idea of how the race may be run.  TG already has the best final figs and having an accurate 4f pace call number would, I think, be a tremendous benefit to it\'s users.  Comments?

Joe,

I asked Jerry about this last year.Pace figs are very useful and points out handicapping info that the whole number does not.It may be cost prohibitive and it also kinda acknowledges the oftentimes relevant pace scenario.Pace is almost never discussed by many of the TG or RAG users that I know.I would much prefer TG pace figs than say TGI which I have not found too useful.

I see no reason why the DRF pace figures can\'t be used in conjuction with TG final time figures. The DRF is providing \"race shape\" info (both a literal description and numeric measurement) to help analyze past races. The figures themselves tell you which horses have the most early speed. If combined with TG final time figures, I think horseplayers will have a pretty powerful tool box. I reviewed the Randy Moss methdology for coping with run up changes, wind variance, track layout etc.. on pace and I think he\'s producing a very sophisticated product.

We\'ve fooled around with breaking down \"race shape\", but I\'m not going to dive into that pool right now. If it develops that there is a real market for this stuff, we might go there.

jerry thats the major problem with you & len, you guys will give a horse a major number as he gets away with a \"soft pace\" then when he faces real competition you guys say he bounced!

i think most figure handicappers using pp\'s in conjunction w/ sheets look at pace as it relates to how a given race shapes up in terms of running styles of horses in an attempt to project at the very least , whether or not a number can win after adjusting for potential ground loss  .

imo - the tgi offers food for thought - for example  , thursday\'s 7th @ gp , tgi info ( along w/ others handicapping factors ) raise some  interesting questions about mb sea on turf or dirt and how a horse like this might be used  in various types of wagering strategies .

Why would you buy pace figures from a man that doesn\'t bet horses? The fastest horse,at the distance, wins most races. Pace is a hoax...........

Hmmm which tracks do you put your money into?

Marcus,

Surely MB SEA is looking for the race to come off the grass, no? He\'s 0 for 3 lifetime grass and is in with stakes turf runners.

He\'s 8 years old and has not won in two years. What relevance could TGI possibly have. I\'m curious to hear your take. Thanks.

miff , your right - it was a very borderline call and like you say, \'mb probably was hoping for dirt becouse he\'s a scratch ... thing i found interesting about his tgi was that it was faster on turf than dirt , i was going to use him underneath in a tri ...
