OK gang.  We know we should be/must be? keeping an accurate an honest record of our wagers right? so how many of us really do that?  Who really knows for sure how much we won or lost for an entire year or even just a race meet? How many of us have started to keep track and just stopped cause we started loosing or just got lazy?
I\'m guilty on all of the above and I guess I want to put myself in a box and somehow force myself to start keeping track by starting this discussion.  Who really knows based on long-term record keeping what kinds of races and circumstances and tracks we are showing a long-term profit for and vice-versa?
A few years ago American Turf Monthly published an article that included a wagering record chart.  All I\'d need to do is fill in the blanks. When will I start? Perhaps this Saratoga meet?  But I\'ve said that before.

By the way just to clarify the round of drinks on me at Siro\'s opening day.  I\'ll need a head count before hand because my plans were to spring for a few quarts of Genny at the beer distributor and pass them around at Siro\'s and maybe if I make some money also get a couple quarts of expensive Pink Champale.  Nothings too good for post-race partying opening day.

I keep track. Not every specific wager, but how I do for the day in dollars and cents. HP

Let me suggest that the 1st benefit many get from keeping detailed records is that you are more judicious in making the wager in the 1st place when you know that the results are going to be recorded. The 2nd & equally important benefit is concrete proof of where your strengths & weaknesses actually lie. I didn\'t weigh in on the multirace vs single race discussion because theoritically multirace should be better because of the single takeout, etc. However, my record on such bets suggests that they should be limited to certain types of situations at best & the amts invested should be less than certain other bets. My \"true odds\" line for someone who does not keep records having any chance at beating this difficult game is greater than 100-1.

Sorry Phil, but I don\'t drink Genny & I don\'t know or want to know what Pink Champale is. Can you make an exception for someone who thinks he might be able to provide as close to a lead pipe cinch as exists in racing the opening weekend?

Another thing I\'ve found handy: I play off-track quite a bit and watch the races on TVG or online.  Some of the wagering services have developed fairly sophisticated systems, on Winticket.com for example I can run reports of bets/wins/ROI for a given track or a given bet type.  I\'m sure youbet.com has something similar.
