Article on the above horse in the DRF, the pertinent part reads:

\"\"I don\'t think he liked the surface,\" said Cerin. \"He was struggling with it and was really tired after the race. We\'ll evaluate his condition, and see if we want to go in the Santa Anita Handicap or the Dubai World Cup.\"

This horse gets loose in the off going. You can see it in his action. He overcame it and posted a nice figure in the Hawthorne Gold Cup, but otherwise would have won off by plus lengths.

His break cost him a chance to win the B.C.Classic. Not sure where he\'s going, but if he elects to run the Gulfstream Park Handicap, he will motor on a dry surface there. The Artax last year was a big effort off the bench.

This horse wants some ground and the new trainer has been good for him. Knock on wood.

It was too bad he didn\'t like the surface. He was in the perfect spot in the race behind the front 4 to get a jump on the deep closers. Hope the race didn\'t take too much out of him to move on the the next race.

TGJB Dubai Classic in the cards?

If Super Frolic comes out of the race better than ever , I wouldn\'t read too much into that last one either - although he seemed to be working very hard , he did look unhappy while running .
I\'ve noticed people saying that general conditions and environment at GP are not horse friendly and are putting the horse\'s through an inordinate amount of stress .

which people what type of people?  Trainers? Jockeys? Owners? Horse whisperers?  Or maybe you though someone said it. or maybe some one thought they heard it said it to some one who said it to someone and you got the news then. or are you stating fact  ?  we need to know.

From what I\'ve been told so far SF came out okay, which was a surprise to me-- I went to sleep that night thinking we had blown the Big Cap, Dubai, and who knows what else. Several horses didn\'t fire over the track, which was wet over rock hard, and hopefully he was just one of them-- we were trying to clear and drop over, and the horse didn\'t extend himself at any point.

I checked the horses that ran inside, by the way, and while there were some who did not run near their best races, enough did run tops or close that I did not give out an \"X\".

I\'m glad to hear he came out of the race in good shape. At first I thought he was laying off the hot pace but it soon became obvious that he was having probelems just keeping up on that surface. The Donn shows there is no such thing as a \"standard\" sloppy track, with several of the top contenders floundering, including both Frolic and Suave who had handled other sloppy tracks before.
Looks like this new Gulfstream strip has some unique charecteristics when wet.

basket - Shortcomings regarding tight quarters and proximity to the parking lot in the Saddling and Paddock area\'s as well as a dicey egress from the Paddock to Track and a new racing surface that hold\'s too much water at GP have been discussed on the TG site and in general news article\'s in various racing publications .

Now I\'m wondering if the Rock Hard racing surface , as Jerry mentioned , was due to the top layer of the track being in early to mid-stages of washing out , potentially causing the Horse\'s hoaf and possibly coronet to reach the under cushion of the track .
