A personal retrospective:

Juvenile Fillies: Leading up to the race, I came to like 3 fillies: Folklore, Original Spin and Ex Caelis. About a week before the race, I realized O Spin was to be ridden by Bailey and was likely to offer no value. Ex Caelis looked to like the distance and would provide insurance against being nauseous when hearing Lukas say something like \"This is the one we liked all along\" a la Charismatic..

Folklore showed the best last race. She showed good races at Bel. Her dad Tiznow won the BC Classic over the course.  Lukas trains his 2YOs as if they will not be back as 3YOs, which many times is the case. Yet when she drew the rail, for some reason I made it my mission to beat her.

Note to self, and not the first time I\'ve told myself: Yes, there are good post positions and worse post positions at every track in the country, but a good horse, especially one with speed, can overcome a bad post, and they do every day.

TG angle: Adieu hung up a \"10\" while winning the Astoria in early July. 3 months later in the Frizette she ran an \"8\". This filly didn\'t look to be going anywhere, and she didn\'t.

TV Comment: I hope the TV coverage improves when it moves to ESPN. Suggestion to ESPN... don\'t cut to commercial after a race until the full order of finish (positions 1-4) has been established and shown.

Facetious \"Q\" for TGJB: How come there\'s no countdown clock until the first post at AQ, which partially opens for the long winter tomorrow? How come Crist doesn\'t do an \"Inner Dirt Diary\"?

Actually, only the clubhouse will be opening as the grandstand undergoes transformation into a glittering(?) gaming venue. By early January, large portions of the clubhouse will smell like a Jamaican social club as 2 distinct Aq cultures... the alta kokkers and the rasta men... are forced to co- exist. Expect daily weekday attendance to regularly dip below 1000 as the meet progresses.

Further Suggestion for ESPN:  If (as in the Sprint) Tom Durkin mentions during his call that there may be cause for an inquiry or jockey\'s objection, promptly show the incident in question (including a head-on shot if you have it).  Don\'t bother with a shot of a steward\'s back as he looks at the incident.

Richiebee,

Maybe the alta kokkers will start smoking weed and the rastas will start wearing plaid pants belted up to their chests.  I\'ll see you there!
