let\'s all be honest, since you have two genius type people, brown vs ragozin

and no one really can scientifically prove who\'s right. i\'m going to split the difference and figure that borrego ran a   1 / 2 pt.

p.s. if borrego bombs in the b.c. brown will say he bounced, rags will say he was too slow.

if he wins brown will say he\'s right, rags will say he moved forward.

the only way to solve this is to have a 30 minute winner take all debate between brown and friedman.

the prize should be $1,000 or so for katrina fund or the daycare center at belmont etc.

both brown & friedman need to explain these wildly divergent figures in a public forum, otherwise what will happen is the racing public will start to lose confidence in the figure makers.

leading it all to be done by a computer. JUST MY OPINION

Mr Friedman has a public forum... his own Bulletin Board.

On that forum, \"Robespierre\" was asked by Michael D. if he, Robes, had any reservations about the figures he gave horses in the Travers.

The head Raggie\'s answer was that the only reservations he had were at fine restaurants for dinner.

No response would have been acceptable; a sarcastic response was uncalled for.
Accessibility, accountability, credibility... these are important traits, no?

     Richee,

This is a business 1st and foremost...rags has customers going back for decades and Jerry wants to display his product to this core group if only to compare products.

Gamblers being what they are (superstitious),are extremely difficult to turn, but the fact they\'re already coughing up $35 a track makes it a most appealing group.

Putting your product on another site is easy, getting them to pay $25 is difficult!

Len has the old school; who by the way put thru alot more cash than we do. This is a good thing when the two #s come up w/opposite opinions.

Lets help keep the two opinions seperate, for what do we achieve by having sameness?

I asume you have never run into Friedman personally...otherwise you would have known it wasn\'t intended to be a sarcastic response.

high roller,We (customers) don\'t want a contest or crowning...it would serve us no good.

Your reasoning is right on but Brown wants to broaden his market while Friedman is doing what he should to hang onto his market share.

By combining the 2 #\'s you are in fact sittng on a fence. We pay these guys for their opinions and expertese.

I have found Jerry to be quite successful when there is a discrepency and that tends to lead to value.

No expanation needed...just deciding for yourself whose product you want to buy.

David-- you don\'t think Friedman\'s response to Michael was sarcastic? Lay off the mushrooms.

All Len had to do was post the Gold Cup sheets with the figures they ran, as I did. The work could speak for itself-- and everyone could draw their own conclusions about the chances of all the horses in a GI running way off their recent form on the same day. Because some of you guys are missing the point-- they had Borrego bouncing badly, and he WON by a block. What about all the others?

As to the question of genius-- it\'s not about that, it\'s about common sense. Again, Ragozin has a dogmatic set of rules and assumptions, many with no basis in the real world, that give him no choice but to assign numbers that are ridiculous on the face of it-- like the first SIX in the Super Derby getting figures that would have beaten all but Borrego in the Gold Cup, and The Daddy and A.P. Arrow running well enough to beat Borrego.

Seriously, think about that for a while.
