Once again the pea patch continues to be a thorn in Churchill Downs side. The 5th race at Ellis Park was declared \"unofficial\" and all money was refunded after 30 minutes of reviewing the start. Evidently the new head stewart was drinking again and couldn\'t focus on the races or the reply so he threw the race out.

Churchill refuses to acknowledge the fact that Ellis is in desperate need of capital improvements. The tote board only shows 12 betting interest but the track offers betting on 14 seperate interests.

I feel sorry for the jocks, trainers, owners, and others who bust their cans in the 90+ degree heat only to work all day for free because of the antiquated equipment they are forced to work with.

In my view the situation down there is totally out of controll - not too long ago a decision ( or perhaps a non-decision ) was made at Ellis to run while the track was essentially under water which resulted in a death of a  top jock . It was evident to me while watching on TV that racing on that particular night should be cancelled due too the unsafe riding conditions after the conclusion of the previously carded race .

Marcus,  Evidently Churchill wants the track to fall in disrepair as  aploy to beg for the slots. Their \"move\" is to push the pitty angle to get the slot revenue. What a poorly run company they have become.

chuchill does not put money into their properties, evidence Hollywood Park which they made alot of money on they never spent a dime other then the intial barn improvements and ripping up the turf course every year.

I would decline to run any horse ( if only i were so lucky  ) on some of those So Cal turf course\'s  and yet there seems to be a perception that the product down there along with the Cal Bred as super high end that is perhaps only a theoretical one .
