The Ohio Derby looks like a blanket finish (potentially the longest photo ever)  w/ EWW\'s horse , Unbridled Energy in the garden spot, who could have dreamed this one up . The news eariler in the week that another one of racings all time prominent trainer\'s announced retirement was certainly something to ponder and now what a way to go out with a nice Ohio Derby GII talley for EWW . Almost sounds to good too be true and ... as an alternative to passing the race alltogether or approaching a GII like a nickle race , perhaps the only 2 who are not off top\'s , Hal\'s Image or Pinpoint are a viable \"pure sheets play\"and might be in order here . Unbridled Energy\'s pattern is not bad though , I\'m more comfortable with that type of form cycle (to run a top effort) when it\'s a turf or fillie line than when it\'s a colt with dirt figures  .

Wrongly

Ohio racing is dead and Magna has done ZERO to support or improve it.  Hopefully, Magna doesn\'t get Franks hands on New York Racing.  Sorry about the rant but living here and having to use Thistledowns facilities is sheer tourture.

Not surprisingly not one horse in the race qualified for the top weight of 124 lbs.  Second stringers, heck these are mostly third stringers.  I really like the local connections for Straight Line and the horse appears to have returned to his 2-year old form.  But the race comes down to the Todd Pletcher question, how much does MG impove?  How much of Pletcher mojo will be at work?

I don\'t understand why exactly or how alot of decisions are made at racings top executive level\'s but it would seem that \"things\" could be moving in a better direction . SL\'s definately in there w /a good shot + looks like he might be straightend out ...
