Two more examples of why thoroughbred racing takes a back seat.

AFLEET ALEX dominates the Belmont Stakes. This is one of racing\'s stars and a crowd favorite. Yet the next day, the NY Daily News has Randy Johnson and the Yankees as their sports headlines.

The 2004 Horse of the Year is retired yesterday. The NY POST buries it inside of its sports section and chooses to have Joe Torre and the Yankees upcoming homestand as its sports cover story.

Who was on the front page???....Michael Jackson, who closely resembles a 16yo gray gelding.

Good Luck,
Joe B.

jbelfior,

Horse racing is the \"Rodney Dangerfield\" of sporting events, no doubt about it. Even in Kentucky, where horses are supposed to be King, the coverage is minimal on horse racing except for the Derby. The marketing of the product just isn\'t very good.
The MJ reference was good stuff! Thanks for the laugh.
