If the rail was dead on Bluegrass day does anyone hold any hope for closing argument to run in the super.  He does not appear to be much slower than the second tier horses(SUN KING, HIGH FLY,ECT.) and ran most of the Blue grass in the same path as high fly.  Third race as a three year old and second off a 70 day layoff.  Bandini was no faster going into the BG.  Based on his sire\'s small sample appears to be getting at least some 2 turn horses....or have I been looking at this too long?

For what its worth, I wrote almost the same thing in an email to a friend earlier in the week.  Closing Argument figured to be a \"short\" horse in the BlueGrass, off the layoff.  The trainer said as much before the race.  A non-threatening 3rd is not great, but he finished ahead of Sun King and Consolidator.

Closing Argument looks better to me than Limehouse did last year and he got 4th at 40-1 or so and drove the Super to 41k.

Why not CA?

Limehouse had a rail trip from an inside post.Closing Argument from the 18 hole?? How can he get a trip that puts him at the bottom of the super?

could someone have told me about giaccomo or whatever that horses name was.  had aa/ca/hf/br box and a number of other combos

I know TGJB thought highly of Giacomo early. Closing Argument is a true freak on his breeding. Alex was getting to him but hung in the very end even while CA was bearing out.

I think the whole race is a throwout.

When it\'s time to handicap the Preakness, just draw a line through the Derby. The pace compromised the chances of several horses and a bunch of others with decent form didn\'t lift a hoof.

That pace was wicked, though the track was fast. They finished in slow time. Wasn\'t it 2.02?

They\'ll say Bellamania rated too close to a hot pace. Its unlikely he rated at all. That was his high cruise Wood with competition he couldn\'t outfoot.

If Alex wins the only bet I cash is the win. But even losing, i\'ve still got goosebumps. I love that race.

I\'ll have to take a close look at the replay and the chart, but from what I saw I think BR actually ran a PRETTY good race. The race totally fell apart. That much is obvious.
