I cannot believe that no one has written about the war going on out here between the factions that are taking this sport down with them as they point to each other to assess blame.  Reminds me of the old days in Florida.

In any event, between the racing press corps failing to do a credible job of assessment and/or investigation of Sweet Catomine\'s status(from the same \"almighty\" connections that were afforded a week before their milkshake positive was even announced)as pointed out by the owner; the press corps being outraged this morning that the owner didn\'t tell them about the true situation of the horse; and the non-racing writers having to tell the whole story - including the fact that both NBC and Magna\'s head of So Cal tracks (owner Ron Charles) were informed of the filly\'s problems and possibly not running - but told only in \"confidentiality\"...it seems that we bettors are idiots for participating in a sport that has become more famous for the information it witholds from the public that what it makes available.

Deb,

I think the public should have been informed. I didn\'t know that Sweet Cat bled, but I heard there was an issue with her last work and I was convinced things were far from copasetic.

Theres a story in the DRF\'s \"Road to the Derby\" section about Canani dropping \"F\" Bombs. The man was clearly not pleased in the runup days to the race.

Thanx re: the link.

Silver Charm

Interesting, but you can never tell.

High Fly was supposed to have a virus for about a day and then he won the Fla Derby. There were Smarty Jones rumors last year leading up to the Derby. And remember Monarchos was lame Derby Week then he won the race in near record time.

The funniest part is the Media attacking the Media for horses running where they do not belong.

Somewhere out there D. Wayne is smiling.

Naturally, every gambler would rather know things like this before betting, but sometimes when stories like this get reported it isn\'t clear how to evaluate the new winning probabilities. I guess if you hated her at those odds to begin with, news of bleeding and horsing would give you more confidence in your \"bet against\". However, to me it\'s often less clear what to do with a horse you like at a big price under similar circumstances.

Delmar Deb,

Thanks for the trouble of posting this, and for your comment.  Tim\'s comments are well worth reading, and very sobering.

Playing F/M this time of year is very tricky without knowing their status or even if they are in foal.  raz
