Hey, Len?

If Ghostzapper is using sheets, someone should call the NTRA. No telling how much publicity they could get from that.

To those who wondered about my \"Hey, Len?\" post-- the following was Len\'s post on the Ragozin board:

\"In the interest of injecting a little humor into our usual drab handicapping discussions, I would like to offer a free set of SHEETS to the first poster who correctly explains why I congratulated eclipse winners Ken Ramsey, Ghostzapper and Todd Pletcher with the description \'Sheet connected\' rather than \'Sheet users\', a distinction whose significance was apparently too subtle for a disingenous manic marketeer who resides elswhere (I guess this means we\'re not burying the hatchet). Let\'s try to have a winner within an hour as I\'m hoping to leave by 6pm and I have another post on this subject. And they\'re off!\"

My first reaction was-- manic marketeer, wow. Nice alliteration.

My second reaction was what I posted-- if GZ is reading sheets, that is a news story. Astoundingly enough, this turned out to be the answer Len was looking for, and he got cranky because I beat him to the punch (line), however inadvertently.

My third reaction was-- second prize, TWO free sets of sheets.

Anyway, a couple of days ago Eric said on their site, \"Congrats to Sheet customer John Sadler on his upset victory in the million dollar Ocala Breeders Classic. John claimed Musique Toujors off The Sheets last year for only $40,000\". But soon thereafter, there were articles in TWO different publications giving credit for the claim to two different individuals, neither of whom was Sadler.

So Len, here\'s my question-- since Musique Toujors is also obviously \"sheet connected\", who taught him to read sheets?

Lets review this one some. First off, Music Toujours wasn\'t claimed \"last year\". He was claimed as 3 yr old in November of 2003 after starting first in June of that year. He did have a progressive looking pattern but he was claimed off a TGraph 8. He was offered for a Tag as recently as three races back. (Did The Sheets folks counsel Sadler to run him for a Tag there?) To his credit he did come up with a couple of 2\'s and win 100K last year and he more than justified his claim even before his jump up performance in the Sunshine Classic.

The horse obviously has some issues and needs time now and then, but just as obviously he\'s justified his claim. Maybe the Sheets folks should let us know why he was an ouchy selection off that 8 and did they advise the 50K tag start? If we are gonna give The Sheets credit for this claim, we at least ought to know all those Sadler \"claimed last year off the sheets\" that he had to go to the meat market with.

Giving credit for a \"Sheet Claims\" cuz a trainer occasionally reads them is like Len Friedman saying \"I picked that race cold\", when his call mentioned 8 in a field of 12.

At the Sheets they have a motto, its this:

\"We don\'t count our losers\"

By the way TGJB, thanks for the heads up on what kind of race the Sun Classic was.
