You\'d think for a million dollars, or roughly 600,000 that the cream 2 year olds would turn out for the Jackpot or at least a few more of the heavy hitting trainers would be there to take a shot. Thats a lot of money to protect horses over. Most of which won\'t be good enough later on anyway.

To some extent this race reminds me of the first week of the Gulfstream or Saratoga meets. (Horses coming in from everywhere.) This race you have 10 entries coming in from 8 different tracks: Aqueduct, Calder, Delta Downs, Churchill, Hollywood, Houston, Philadelphia and Pimlico. The difference is that most of these horses haven\'t made a reputation for themselves yet. A couple players came out of this race last year.

i like the pedigree on a few of the colts, i might take a look at the TG #\'s for that one. but isn\'t that track a 7f oval? might look more like roller derby than horse racing (that\'s probably why more top names don\'t give it a try).

spook_express

Actually its only a 6f oval which makes it even more interesting (less desirable to ship to)

But you know what, if you had a 2yr and it could be in the mixed of these would\'nt you go for the money, I would.

thanks spook...... forget it then. i would rather bet on the dogs at the palm beach KC.

lol

I\'m not sure the turns are any tighter, the straightaways may be shorter.

It is a six mark course. Its a 8.5 mark two turn race. They start in the chute where they would for 10 marks on most tracks. Its an interesting race. Between two year olds, track configuration, unknown bias, post position, two turn ability, it has some handicapping challenges.

For a handicapper, the race is like a hunter\'s trophy room in a way. The hunter has a Lion on the wall and he has an Elk. Theres a Moose and a Whitetail, but theres a trophy plaque without a trophy upon it. Maybe that\'s because, he\'s never seen a Delta Jackpot before.

I was just reading that they still hand time all the races at DeD.  Does Jerry have a guy there timing races?  Must make for some very tough figure making if not.

I\'d say they don\'t have anyone at Delta.

Last yr a big Canadian chalk came in off a -1 [nice bet against]and finished up the track. Mr Jester [14-1], Fire Slam [7-1], Perfect Moon ran 1,2,3. Baffy\'s money burner Consecrate is still out there, lol.

A couple yrs ago Outta Here ran a big # in this race and never did anything else. Ran in the Derby and stunk.

May they all come home safely!

Delta is on the up and up, big money coming in from the slots. Next year this race goes to a G3. There going to add a grass course and make the track bigger. Maybe their going after the BC.
