Gee, I guess Giambi said he used undetectable steriods, I bet that stuff doesn\'t go on in horse racing though.....I read somewhere that a certain country was going to announce the horse\'s weight before each race in order to provide better info to the punters.  Would be nice if the industry as a whole had that attitude in the U.S.  In Giambi\'s case, you could have noticed the weight drop after he cleaned up.

This will come out sooner than later.

Giambi\'s personal trainer was Richard Dutrow.

I\'ve never read anything to indicate that steroids are illegal in thoroughbred racing.  In fact, I am under the impression that they are legal.  Am I wrong?

Bit,

Didn\'t mean it literally -- steriods.  The point was illegal performance enhancing drugs in general.  The absence of a level, legal playing field.  Probably less of an impact in baseball actually than in horse racing.

Steroids build strong bodies 12 ways, used routinely in horses to help muscle soreness, but there may be a time restriction before race day.

May they all come home safely!

does anybody know if they are freezing the samples taken from horses (to be available for future testing)?. regarding the balco case, looks as though tim montgomery (set the 100m world record) and marion jones knew for a fact that the testing technology at the time would not detect their steroid \"diet\". i imagine they would have been less likely to break the rules if they knew their samples would be frozen, and available for testing many years down the road, when the technology is sure to improve.
