Hidden Pace Play?

CtC and CH,

I will give you an example of what I mean by a possible hidden pace play.  The first race at Aqueduct today.  Baryshnikov\'s Song is viewed as the most likely pacesetter if you read the DRF comments and you could make a case for the favorite as well, River Spirit.

I think that considering the wet track, the claim by Asmussen, switch to John Velasquez, his last race being a \"key\" race, and his nice inside post, you might see Double Slam on the lead.  By Grand Slam (Gone West) and with one wet track win already, this relatively paceless field is begging for a wire to wire job.  He showed speed last time and faded, now gets freshened up.  Baryshnikov\'s Song is outside and the pace he set at Philly was 49, 1:14.  The race before, Baryshnikov was beaten out of the gate by Double Slam and \"Song\" had the rail there.

The track at Aqueduct is sealed right now and as most NYers know, it tends to favor speed when that happens.

River Spirit looks to have a \"figure\" advantage, but has a long history of 2nds as well.

If the price is right, I plan to take a shot on Double Slam, hoping Johnny V gets him out of the gate and doesn\'t look back.

Right now, with 18 MTP, he is 12-1.  I call that the right price.

jimbo,
that track is a mess tday, it\'s anybody\'s guess as to what is going to happen in these races. i got the TG figs and handicapped the pk6 two days ago, so i am still going to bet it, but i won\'t have a lot confidence in anything.

wow

projected pace horse all the way at big balloons. They ran 1-2-3 around the track. I didn\'t do any handicapping today. I heard CH say the public factors pace horses. Not Always.

Sometimes this game makes you look extremely stupid.

I am looking for my 7-1 shot to possibly make the lead over the sealed \"speed favoring\" track.

And the \"likely\" pacesetter goes off at 25-1 and wires them easily.

Ouch.
