Maybe the most impressive unsung performance of
Breeder\'s Cup day was that of D.W. Lukas\' STELLAR
JANE in the BC Distaff, who broke out from the widest
post... had a ridiculously wide-all trip... and made a truly
eye-catching sustained move into and around the far
turn, but couldn\'t catch the winner [ASHADO, who broke
from the rail].

What a performance! The best ThoroGraph figure of the race?
They really put the good wood to her. Phew! Check it out on the
replays if you get a chance.

You are right on there.  Island Fashion (who I ended up keying), was more forwardly placed from the outside early and very wide, and I was watching and thinking I wasn\'t sure the jockey had that much of a choice...  Stellar Jayne might have been wider...  HP

had great seats yesterday, right on the rail in the stretch...beautiful weather...and the TX people are very courteous and outgoing...but SC is right - stay  home to bet.  Machines went on the blink for 2 races behind the  temp grandstands and we could not gt the bets off...tellers who did not know what a \"part wheel \" was, and when you got frustrated enough just to ask for a voucher to use a machine, they could not do that either...too bad, everything else was great except the size of the facility and the traffic getting in (2 lane road for 50K people...I\'m not kidding.  Like many of you posting, I did a stupid thing and let TG analysis override my better judgemnet - especially horses who had recently run \"tops\" bouncing...oh, well...what time does CD and Aqua start up ?

Silver Charm

I had Stellar Jane with Ashado in the exacta so I don\'t need to watch any blankin replays. And while Zito didn\'t give anyone the Bird tell Jeremy Rose (Afleet Alex) I got one waiting for him.

Actually extracted the needle from the haystack in Singletary on Friday night and found a way to get off of him by post time. As if all that wasn\'t bad enough my beloved Hurricanes go down for a ten count last night.

There tough days and there are nightmares. I think I will dress up as bum tonight and hold a hat out.

Shanahan,

Far be it for me to defend the TG analysis, because it was bad.  But with what happened yesterday, I am not sure whose analysis would have worked yesterday.  5 favorites and 3 inscrutable longshots.  Not a good mix for most real handicappers/gamblers.  I was with a group of people who were half true horseplayers and half not.  The \"not\" half did much better, often boxing the favorites and stuff like that.  The rest of us were frustrated.

Look forward to JB\'s comments on the BC.

Actually, I should correct one thing.  Singletary was not an inscrutable longshot, he did figure on the TG numbers, although both the soft turf and the fact that Flores rode him, didn\'t help confidence.  That is typical horseracing, if you watch Flores ride on Singletary in the race BEFORE the Breeders Cup, I honestly think it would be VERY VERY difficult to find a worse ride for losing ground.  I didn\'t bet the horse that race but watched the race several times and couldn\'t believe what I was seeing (and it wasn\'t even a big field).

Then on BC day, Flores gives him a beautiful \"inside out\" ride and wins!!

regardinh Singletary, that race prior to the BC was a planned wide trip. The came right from the trainers mouth.
