Figure making question - GP dirt miles

I was wondering how figure makers account for the lack of run-up on GP dirt mile races. The opening fraction is about 1.5 seconds slow because of it.  Do you subtract that and then \"extend\" out the final fraction to guess-timate what the final time would be?  Or, are there enough dirt mile races there to get a rule of thumb for how to adjust things, point-wise?

Will Thorograph be analyzing the Tampa Saturday card?

Our two guys are doing Oaklawn, Aqu, SA and GP between them. If SA cancels again we’ll do Tampa instead, if not and I have time I’ll do it myself.

The Holy Bull was upgraded by the Beyer guys from an 84 to a 90. That is quite an adjustment. Did that race make it difficult for the TG team to make a figure for that race?

TGJB

Not that one. But in general GP can be a real pain in the ass. You could have only one or two dirt races to work with, with small fields, and the track changes speed frequently. Also, just to make things interesting, the synth distances don’t always line up the same way with each other. Just for starters.

It\'s a pain in the ass for players also, GP is the one track where I have the least confidence in my handicapping because of all those variables, and how many synth races they card.

I prefer a track to only use two surfaces, turf &/or dirt/synth.

I thought the synth at GP was only to be used in case of off the turf or unsafe main track. But it seems most of there races are carded & ran on synth.
Any idea as to why?

If SA doesn\'t cancel...........and you have time.......

The track seems to change a lot day to day and over the day as well.  Beyer had it slowing down at least a second between the 2 7F sprints on Pegasus day and had the Holy Bull day slower still.

Done. Should be up soon. Not a bad card.

Thank you for doing the work
