Hey P-Dub, why aren\'t you going off the deep end on this? Weren\'t you at Saratoga when this happened? You play Pick 5s.  You didn\'t think that what they did was a big deal?

Come on in, the water is beautiful!  Your conscience will be clear, I promise you.

Was at Saratoga all week.

Lost the Saturday P5 for $5200 when the Brown horse Re rallied to beat Webslinger. Put $200 on his nose as a saver, but that was very small consolation. Omitting him was not smart.  Had the 5-6-8 and not the 2.

Yes, it was a big deal.  But going on for days on end........

You made your point, very good points. An absolute shit show.  Time to move on

Time to move on is just like Nero fiddling while Rome burns; it means time to go die.  I happen to love this sport and when somebody is killing something I love, I don\'t just move on.  Sometimes there is a hill to die on. You play poker and you know what an inflection point is.  Did you read Jared Diamond\'s Collapse?  I refuse to go down without a fight.  This is Jerry\'s board, he can tell me if he thinks this is enough and we should just let them off the hook.

P-Dub

I never said let them off the hook.

Hey if you want to make 9000 posts saying the same thing over and over then knock your lights out

I listen to you even better than you listen to yourself.  I also understand you aren\'t getting my allusions.  Maybe I am too obtuse and I need to make myself clearer in my next 9000 posts. Did you ever read Dr. Seuss?

I am the f—king Lorax.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lorax

I listen to what people say and do, and I respond to what people say and do. I also happen to love something.

We come to this board, in theory, because we have a shared love of horseracing.

Jerry, if you think I am soiling or tainting you, your company, or your message board, I will listen to you if you would prefer that I stop. I am guessing you haven\'t asked me to stop or slow down because you are either erudite or you do not want to offend a customer. I can promise you that if you ask me to stop, my feelings won\'t be hurt and I will remain a loyal customer (although I am expecting the volume of my sheet purchases to go down because there are just fewer trustworthy betting pools).

As far as I am concerned, Thorograph is one of the heroes and I am not trying to take down heroes, I am trying to save something I love here.

I don\'t want to destroy NYRA. I want NYRA to fix itself.  I want O\'Rourke to come out and answer who forbade him from moving the post time and why and if that is capable of occurring again. I also want O\'Rourke to explain why the pool was distributed in contravention of the applicable rules and what can be done to make sure they won\'t distribute pools in contravention of the rules again.  They still haven\'t acknowledged that they violated the rules that Fairmount1 very succinctly pointed out that they violated much less addressed concerns about proper and lawful distribution of the betting pool.

TGJB

Bringing attention to and some discussion of the issue is constructive, yes. And I can tell you NYRA has been under tremendous pressure, not just from here. But making this the department of redundancy department is just (ahem) beating a dead horse.

Bartender, mix me a metaphor.

If something more happens (or doesn't) at some point that will be worth further discussion.

Meanwhile, the CAW piece I wrote for TDN has gotten decent response from horseplayers, and zero traction with the morons who run the industry. And the Jockey Club CAW panel was an effin' travesty. We are in real trouble.

Can you tell us if NYRA is under pressure from other fronts for the illegal distribution of Sunday\'s Pick 5 pool?  If you can say yes to that, then my job is done and I can stand down.

Thank you, statuette.

Don't know, but the place to apply that pressure is on THEM directly, which a lot of other people are, or to the state outfits that regulate and license them.

Australia has an excellent racing program. Large fields. Coordinated venues. Excellent announcers who are savvy about both horses and wagering. I know of no other venue in this country that compares favorably.

Just no speed figures that I've been able to find.

Looks like the perfect place for me to retire to and start making my own figures.

Also, the land of Midnight Oil. Their song, Beds Are Burning (as in, How can we sleep when our beds are burning), is quite apropos.  I have felt like my bed is burning all week.

jerry

It would be. They do have some issues with drought, wildfire and a hole in the ozone but their racing program is top notch. Great way to end the day here tabbing bombs there and they do have more than their share. I've heard the flies are horrible in the summertime though and I don't think I could ever get used to spiders that big.

Fairmount1

I\'ll bite my tongue after just watching the \"panel.\"  But others should watch if curious where the 3 genius minds there told TJC folks where it should head. . . . Holy *@%%&
