Any chance at all we could get a seminar for Arkansas Derby day? Might be the last big day of racing we’ll get for awhile.

TGJB

Highly highly unlikely.

I’m guessing you’re not in New York.

Sadly for those of us looking for some good honest fun, apparently Louis Cella,
Oaklawn\'s owner, confirmed a couple of days ago that the OP meet, the
greatest show on dirt, will not be extended past Arkansas Derby Day, May 2.

Reasons given: (a) out of purse money; (b) need to rework the main track, which
Mr. Cella says will take many months and (c) some barns under construction on
the backstretch.

This is a shame because OP could really have huckled the berries well into June
or July. I do not think Churchill Downs (the corporation), which will not be
running the Derby in May and probably will not be able to host their popular
\"Downs After Dark\", will be very anxious to put on a Spring meet (my opinion).

Good racing at OP last Saturday. Good racing this Saturday. Probably a
blockbuster Arkansas Derby Day, which I think also features a 3YO tilt at a
flat mile. Wonder if OP folks are going to add a couple of 3YO races during the
Racing Festival of the South. I would imagine there are some decent Triple
Crown race quality 3YOs out there all dressed up with nowhere to go.
