IWC: Still has not got back to his top figure but looks like a pair here is not out of the question. Inside draw with 2 speed horses to the outside tough read. Soft favorite gonna try and beat him.
Battle of Midway: 0-2-X pattern here? Another speed horse on the inside. Underlay here.
Timeline: Fastest horse on TG,won the local prep while pairing his top going two turns the first time. Last of the speed horse will have to really go to get another 1w 1w ride. Brown pairs 51% of the time at MTH. Probably post time favorite.
Practical Joke: Loved his Dwyer Race he won for fun and rated perfect. All the inside speed may get a very nice ground saving trip. Not the fastest on TG but may be sitting on a huge effort.4-1 very fair odds.
McCraken: Will he ever run Faster than 2? Seems to go wide every race and may go wide again today. A bit slow today for my likes
Hence: Paired his top last out coming home 4W and may be sitting on a jump forward.Lots of speed in the race, may set up for him if Paco can cut the corner. Asmussen does not seem to do to well at MTH,but Paco does. 12-1 interesting horse.
Girvin: Big new top with a trainer who does not do well after running new tops. Expecting a bounce today.

My Play:::With all the speed im looking for a stalker to come up for the win.
Top Play; Practical Joke, with a very playable Hence underneath.

Good Luck
Sorry I am not the wordsmith of some other here.

I\'m not convinced Timeline wants this distance and don\'t expect him to get an easy lead.  He\'s vulnerable at a short price.

Hence to me is a classic bounce candidate and not that good a horse.

Indian War Cry should cycle back to top and get a good stalking trip.  A must use and most likely winner.

If you ignore Girvins derby fig he has a forward moving line and could pair.  But the bo is concerning and he won\'t move forward so it puts him at the bottom of ticket.

McCracken is going to break through one of these days. A pace meltdown would help him the most.  He always loses ground but if he doesn\'t could be dangerous.

Practical Joke a tough read in that his last looked like a very easy score. Probably wasn\'t cranked and a move forward makes him second most likely winner.

Battle of Midway another tough read. If you believe his last number he can\'t be used but it appeared to be a paid workout. No clue what to do with this horse.

I\'m keying IWC with all except Hence and Timeline.

On the flip side. Timeline has, what I consider the best late speed, so I see this one pulling away late to win. Because of the expected short price, I\'ll play  pic 3\'s with the Wekeel & Miss Temple City / Timeline / Zealous Scholar & April Gaze & Chilly Start

I used to like Hence but he has burnt too many of my dead presidents. I expect to see him lose a point or two in ground and don\'t imagine he can make much of an impact doing that vs these.

Seems this one (as capable as he is) just doesnt put two races together I\'ll play against a winning race by IWC.

If Timeline gets beat Girvin is the one I pick as capable of doing it. Unlucky to lose his last and newly learned running style makes him likely to get 2nd. So an exacta under Timeline and I\'ll play doubles into Girvin with Wekeel & Miss Temple City.

I\'ve come around to believing PJ is a nice horse. But he has to get faster at a distnce I\'m not convinced gives him any edge. I do not expect a winning race.

This is one good looking colt and my view is Winstar won when they bought in. I expected to see him race in the east this summer. He may jump up but I think his biggest success w/b as a sire.

Someone posted that this years 3 y/o crop is lackluster and the Californians even more so. Short as this field is, I consider it premo. In any event I project a competitive exciting race.

Today has to be at least the fourth time I\'ve came away from a big 3 year old race absolutely disgusted w Practical Joke\'s stretch run (or lack there of).  He\'s in position to take care of business and he just doesn\'t finish.

Nice call on Girvin, I was in the camp of whoever was better today between Timeline and BOM would hit the tape first.  Definitely an exciting race, and a pretty interesting week over all.  Lotta of big names didn\'t fire in graded stakes leaving a muddled picture with a whole lot of questions going forward.  How many had the Jim Dandy-Haskell double? Or the mighty Arrogate throwing in a clunker while back east Navarro seemingly unable to saddle a loser.  The rest of the summer and fall should be fun!

The horse ran his eyeballs out. Had to wait at the top of the lane and still nearly won it. Not sure what race you were watching.

Good Luck,

Nice analysis, I played your Pk3 - Thanks!!

edit: I added Girvin to your pk3 based on your analysis

johnnym

I agree P.J gets a clean trip he wins.

Silver Charm

Maybe. And I bet him also. Brown tells all his Jocks to save ground and thats fine as long you have ample room before someone like McCracken early moves and blows by. Girven out kicked him.

Well done on your review and analysis

jbelfior

Girvin got the jump on him when Practical Joke got stuck and waited. Had the momentum which is, IMO, how he was able to out game him in deep stretch. PJ developing into a serious racehorse.

Entire complexion of the race changed when BOW and Timeline missed the break.

Travers may end up being better than the 3 TC races put together. Let\'s get CE in that gate as well.

Good Luck,
Joe B.

He absolutely ran his eyeballs out no doubt, and also came up short again.   He never broke stride though? Mccraken was well clear, PJ had the jump on Girvin who was wide and got beat.

It seemed like Rosario didn\'t want any part of going wide on the turn and waited to make his move, but I didn\'t see him get stopped or anything, Girvin still had to Catch him and he did.  I agree he\'s a real nice horse that fires every time, but I don\'t think he had any excuse in 3 of his last 4.

Your loyalty may get handsomely rewarded next time, assuming you stick with it.
