My Take on the Derby

If the archives are any guide, this year\'s Derby is actually not very competitive (I expect to be schooled yet again). Here\'s my take:

PRACTICAL JOKE - Fast horses with forward moving lines and no regressions have a pretty good record in this race and this horse is about the only one who can boast this line.

LOOKIN\' AT LEE - More than a few lengths behind the fastest going in, he at least has a gradually forward moving line with a nice top in his last. May be ready to move forward again.

IRISH WAR CRY - Fastest going in but betting he won\'t run back to that figure. Looking for him to regress  a couple of points.

ALWAYS DREAMING, IRAP, GUNNEVERA, J BOYS ECHO, TAPWRIT - All have shown potential with knocks against all of them. I expect them to either regress from their big jump ups (as in the first two) or recover from their last off races with excuses (although GUNNEVERA had no real excuse and this line of coming in off of an X is pretty much an auto toss.
