So I posted yesterday about something, and had to delete one that followed because it looked like we were heading to a political thing. Which was not what my post was about, it was about the PREMISE of a TV show being about avoiding accountability.

But it got me to thinking. Like everyone else, I\'ve watched the slow motion Republican 40 car pileup. And one aspect of it kept nagging at me, like I\'d seen it before somewhere.

So somebody-- Rubio, Bush, occasionally (very) the press, raises an issue, asks Trump a substantive question. And he, and his \"surrogates\", never answer on the substance, never deal with the issues. Their response is simply to attack, call someone a name.

Like I said, it reminds me of something...

You have to wonder if critical analysis is dead, like Latin.

Any posts that take this in a political or partisan direction will be deleted. Not my point.

It\'s not just critical analysis that is dying, it is accountability and in many ways, honesty. I work in sales for the largest dental distributor in the world and spend my entire day dealing with Doctors\' and their staff. You would be amazed at how many can never give you a straight answer about their business or when they do, they lie through their teeth.

When, exactly, were the good old days of critical analysis?  When people accepted whatever their priest told them? When people, most of whom never had extensive formal education and worked much harder than people do today, couldn\'t be bothered to raise or correctly formulate the questions to be analyzed?

One of the great drawbacks of things like the internet is that people who whose titanic stupidity would never have seen the light of day, now get a full hearing (I\'ll include myself in that.)

re: critical analysis

You should put an (X) next to the number, Jerry. One of the contestants is running against the BIAS.

i will tell you what ive been saying all year long Trump reminds me of Morton Downey Jr. and i use to love as a teen watching his show ...and sadly no love for Trump lol

There\'s a difference between avoiding the answer, and not using critical thinking. I personally have issues with big data; it\'s inductive not deductive. Trump is more like PT Barnum for president than some spin doctor who uses stats to lie or contort the truth.

I hear your points, though, and when you add the lack of attention span (ADHD) and the tendency of the internet to promote opinion (blogs) before journalism, it makes for disinformation, noise, propaganda, static, etc. such that here we are--in the Information Age--worse off than ever as far as how well informed we might be on important issues.

I hope Thoro-Graph will not be a Canadian-based company in the near future. ;-)

Theoretically gambling is a recession proof business. And judging by what breeding stock is bringing at Keeneland nobody seems too worried.

This post is not partisan or political? It is both.

Funny how you chose to delete my message as political when this whole thread, including your original post (which I agree with), is political.

I\'m not criticizing the thread. Some real truths are being put forth here.

TGJB

It was not political. It, as with one I made after the election, was about my business competitor.
