UGLY

After being spoiled last year with the nicest weather ever for an entire meet the tide has turned big time.

Yesterday\'s heavy overnight and morning rains turned the track into a mess, then the extreme humidity came in. I went up for a couple of races yesterday and it was horrible. Today is going to be much worse 93 or higher with 90% plus humidity with a dew point into the 70\'s.

Friday & Saturday look like complete washouts with heavy T-storms both days, Sunday & Monday are not looking a whole lot better. 12 of the 21 races carded for Friday and Saturday are on the turf!

Good luck at Arlington on Saturday,

Frank D.

Frank...unfortunately agree with your forecast...looks like significant probability-strong storms ALL weekend (worse mid-afternoon)...doesn\'t look all that great for next week either (from next Wednesday on) but that could change...BUT...looks like the only significant turf racing will be at Arlington Park...

Outstanding turf racing at AP for Million Day, featuring an all stakes P5 which
kicks off with a funky one mile synthetic race and ends with the Million (races 5-9)
and an all stake P4 on races 6-9.

Race 6, the American St. Leger at 1-11/16 miles, features an eclectic cast. Favored
Da Big Hoss, one of the great claims in recent years, has won five stakes at five
different tracks in the last year and carries top weight of 126. Clondaw Warrior is
a nine year old Irish bred who is equally adept over jumps and on the flat. Perhaps
most exotic is Billabong, a well traveled Moroccan bred who won stakes in
2013 and 2014 at \"CAS\", which I am assuming is Casablanca.

Speaking of eclectic, I say this mare\'s pps should garner an honorable mention -- most interesting non-first lasix, first lasix, I have ever seen.  Apparently, she got lasix in Argentina for her first two starts, but then won a G1 as a 3yo filly against older with lasix off (beating 17 other distaffers and getting 10 panels in under 2:00 minutes).

Then after 18 months off, returns in the Prix de Maurice Zilber.  Having personally been a devotee of the John D Shapiro\'s DC International during the 1970s, I can testify that Monsieur Zilber was a frequent participant (rumor has it the DC International is coming back).  M. Zilber was the trainer of Exceller who was beaten in the 1977 DC International by Johnny D (no connection to John D nor Beverly D -- the subject race).

Pretty Girl (ARG) now returns to Lasix and is coming into the Beverly D on a sparse 16 days (plus the 7 hours gained on the flight) after prevailing by a nostril over none other than Bohemian Rhapsody in a four female foto finish at Vichy!!

Here is my question -- is she first lasix or not?  Is there such a thing an angle as first time U.S. Lasix?  I must say although I have considered many things in my handicapping, I have never faced a medication question quite like this one.

Expected to clear leading into the Alabama . . . which will mean I\'ve at least timed the weather market to advantage during this meeting.

Hopefully way before then...if not then bankrolls have a way of depleting quickly

Wash out for Sat still? Weather looks 50/50.
