Now that Borel is gone...

In your opinion what jockey or jockeys most often employ Borel\'s rail skimming tactics?

Agastache: On the Kentucky circuit: I nominate Corey Lanerie and Joe Johnson.

miff: Mike Smith by far.

FrankD.: LMAO Corey will never go near a rail again after Amoss got done undressing him!

big18741: Surprised Lanerie is staying on Mo Tom in the Derby.
So now he\'ll go wide and try and loop the field.

No good either way and he\'s 16-1 in pool 4 going into today.

Funny.

mjellish: Spiral winner is owned by Ramsey and sired by Kitten\'s Joy.  Pretty sure unless the colt gets hurt Ramsey will pay, or find a way to get someone else to pay, the $200k to get him into the race.  I would plan on the colt being in the gate in Louisville, and also plan on him being a non-factor.  Not to slight the horse, but I don\'t think 1 1/4 on dirt will be his thing.

FrankD.: Just up on DRF he is going.

OSCAR NOMINATED was not nominated to the Triple Crown for $600 in January nor $6,000 in March, which shows how much Kentucky Derby-loving owner Ken Ramsey must have thought of him at those points. But after his victory in this race Ramsey is going to the Derby on May 7, because Oscar Nominated earned 50 points, and the first-prize money of $282,000 will cover the $200,000 supplement Ramsey will have to put up at entry time May 4 to run. That supplement will make Oscar Nominated eligible to the Preakness and Belmont, too.

miff: Heard out of KY that Ramsey found a sucker....err investor to put up the $200k supplement derby fee for a slug that figures 75-1....unbelievable!

I know Frank. Its great during football season tho.

Good friend and I went out to GGF yesterday for some live racing, we used to go all the time when we were younger. Had a great time.

Enjoying the TC banter. I\'m doing great and hope all is well with you my friend. Opening Day of baseball hard to beat.

Nyquist impressive yesterday, although he didn\'t beat much.

mjellish: Well, with bonus depreciation phasing out we will all need write offs. What do they get, a percentage of the colt or a percentage of the purse(s)?

I think im going to start an entity called Slow Roll Stables...

You know Mike, we better layoff or we may be put him in the superfecta.  Nice colt.  But got a feeling this one\'s no Animal Kingdom.

On a figures note, the Rags guys have no shot at getting the FL Derby card right with a hard varient for the day.  About as good an example of a day as you could ask for as to how changing weather can change the varient.  It actually looks pretty straight forward to me that Nyquist came close to pairing but backed up a bit.  And he was coming out of a one turn CA race, so who knows what his pattern is goimg to look like over there.

miff: MJ,

He\'ll go in with like a TG 5-6 top on synthetic.I\'ve reassessed, he\'s a legit 80-1. Is there a future pool price?

Mike

TGJB: Rags rules for his guys (not for himself, he trusted his own judgment, not theirs) allow for some variant change due to precipitation. But then it gets complicated, according to Paul (who was there long after I was)-- there\'s a set amount of change in points race to race they can\'t exceed. But you\'re right, God knows what they\'ll do with that day.

Good point about the Cali one turn races. That\'s going to affect Ex\'s pattern on their stuff to.

Gerard: Ramsay\'s public statement was 100k for 50% of the triple crown purses. This on a 75k claim. Think he\'ll create value somewhere on the board if he\'s less than 50-1.

Spiral was run in 50+mph winds. The 0.50c pick four paid 60k. Only thing resembling AK\'s Spiral in that race was Motion\'s Kasseopia spotting the field several lengths at the start of the race.

The way this year is shaping up, the 10 point Lexington may wind up becoming a race of importance.
