Let's just all get caught late...

ridiculous.  ahead by daylight and a horse that wouldn\'t train catches him?  We all had him - hell he dropped to 5/1...really?  A horse (this is per Mike Welsch) who would\'nt train the last 2 weeks?

On the other hand, he was clearly the fastest.   Even on TPattern.  By far.

Honor Code looked totally washed out in post parade too. Didn\'t think he\'d run a jump. That was a tough beat. Horse ran his eyeballs out though.  Put away the entire field by top of stretch except the winner, who may be a special horse. No regrets.

Saratogian:

\"Mike Smith says he blew it in the Whitney. Jockey hit Liam\'s Map with whip. Horse didn\'t like it. Honor Code caught him at wire\"

Liam\'s Map, making first graded stakes appearance, had nearly 5 length lead at the eighth pole. Smith said the whack may have cost him race

Thanks for making me feel even worse! :)

Late Pick 4 I usually won\'t play unless I got a single. Went all in on the ROTW. He was up by so much so late that it took well over five minutes for me to explain to the wife we\'d gone down to defeat: she\'d already chalked it up as a W. Thought he was home free, was heading from the teevee to the puter to get the will-pays. Wouldn\'t have paid all that much, but still, getting back half a yard or so would have gotten me out (with a Jackson or two left over for Chinese food and a third, supplementary sixer of something decent).

Apologies for the drunken venting.

Goldy Espony looking for all the world like a lone f on a seemingly speed-favoring course, 9/2, w/the faster ones marooned outside, all figuring to lose ground. $80 worth of gimmicks gets me a handful of stewgots, the Lerman getting up for 3rd would have made it a whole different story. Not a f\'ing dime on her nose. Even $40 win at least puts a sizeable dent into the day\'s deficit.

Have I apologized for the drunken venting yet?

Am I the only one who didn\'t see the 9 coming in the last? A second chance to get out blown up, can\'t complain though, didn\'t like the thing a bit. Always prefer getting beat by something I didn\'t like...

Crap. And to top it off I got a five a.m. wakeup call looming. No Sunday morning is complete without my getting up at the butt-crack of dawn to hit  seven or eight pro-v\'s into the woods. At least I get \'em for free, and I promised to take the kids to the beach tomorrow. Just gotta make sure I get home too late to bet and too late to drink....

46 half mile cost him, forget the whip nonsense. Presence of Moreno forced Mikey to send and clear the field or risk going head and head.

Honor Code is a quirky sort.  Forgot that he wouldn\'t train, he did finally get the work in and was fit.  The point of training is to maintain fitness.  Shug thought he was getting too smart for his on good and HC didn\'t like the fact they were trying to trick him into working.  Any horse that comes from the clouds  has a mind of his own, Castellano said he was not running a jump until the second turn.  If he doesn\'t get through on the rail he doesn\'t win.

Disagree, about the opening half getting him caught.  It was a fast final raw time - the fastest 6 and 7 furlongs all day as well.  The winner isn\'t 19 lengths back without the :46 half, and it\'s not like LM collapsed late.  He ran huge, but that was his best shot fired.

Agree with AJ.

The half didn\'t beat him.  I needed Liam\'s Map for the last leg of a narrow pick-3 punch (2 by 1 by 1) that was going to be a nice score for me.  And I have no regrets about the ride or the pace.  Smith took it to the field, seemingly knowing that Moreno is a has been trained by a blow hard and all that talk about Moreno going to the front was silly.

It wasn\'t a speed favoring track at all yesterday and he just missed by a whisker.  Honor Code got a hall of fame ride by Castellano and it took every inch of saving ground on the far turn to get up by a desperate head.  8 out of 10 times the horse gets home.  He just didn\'t.

That is racing.

AJ,

Maybe not a collapse but Liam\'s last eighth was 13.20. Liam slowed quite a bit very late or does not get beat.Liam had every right to slow down late as that pace came up wickedly fast on all pace figs.It is also noteworthy that no dirt horse wired(5 dirt races) Juba getting caught despite being loose on a slowish pace.
