Trying to decide what color the T-shirt which says \"Chris Kay: The Kay stands for
\'Klueless\'\" should be.

That would be on the front of the shirt. On the back of the shirt would be a
depiction of the Jack Woltz/Khartoum scene from \"The Godfather\". Kay would be
lying in bed in his jammies, \"NY Racing\" could be written on the dead horse\'s
neck, and the blanket could say NYRA on it.

Almost every year since 1979, I have showed up at the Spa with a beach chair and
a cooler; hope it is not true that Kay plans to remove all remaining trees, to
blacktop the backyard and to set up a grid whereby I and others can pay daily for
a 4 foot by 4 foot space where I can unfold my beach chair and set up my cooler.
Of course if you can not see the cooler ban coming, you haven\'t been paying
attention.

richie,

Per, the Belmont backyard,

Plastic storage bins were the new \"coolers\".

Mostly filled with ice, food and beverages, I wonder how 90,00 folks knew they could bring Storage Wars to the Belmont backstretch but not a cooler?

Bob,

You didn\'t see the 2 \"Rasta\" guys with Clueless Kay t-shirts on selling them in the green lot? Lime green maaannn

miff

Frank,

Prefer the lime green/orange/black combo to match the hat.How come you Upstaters with all the juice in Albany aren\'t getting the racing politicos to stop the fking idiot Kay from all the crap he\'s pulling at the Spa?

Bob:

No pun intended, but NYRA has a large untapped interest in damming the flow of
free alcohol into the backyard areas at Belmont and the Spa.

I have no doubt that Kay @ Ko. will eventually ban or surcharge all coolers and
cooler like items, forcing thirsty racegoers to resort to NYRA taps for beer AND soda.

I really must say that this is not a big issue for me, but Chris, here is
another suggestion: You have already moved 2 \"giveaway\" days at the Spa to
weekdays, trying to increase weekday attendance. Once you announce the cooler
ban/surcharge, almost simultaneously announce it will NOT be imposed on
weekdays.

Chris, you would probably be very surprised at the results.

It is too bad that Racing never succeeds on TV (Horseplayers, Luck) because
\"Keeping Up With the Kaydashians\", a weekly look at how decisions are made at
NYRA, could be rather amusing.

Mike,

The juice ran out with Joe Bruno for upstate all around; you already knew DAT!

As much as we all at times detested the Shelly and Joe show; things got done.
King Andrew with a rudderless senate and legislature doesn\'t even make good comedy.

miff

Frank,

Most powerful guy left up there on the racing side is Assemblyman Gary Petlow, he\'s ok,tries to protect the game. Not sure he has any real juice though.

Worry King Andrew(no show AGAIN at TC Belmont)is going to leave NY racing to Clueless Kay and his bean counters as he courts his new cash cows, Casinos.

Mike,

I\'m watching Steve Byk\'s show this morning while guessing on south Florida weather for mandatory rainbow payout today, lots of interesting perspectives on the Spa.

Rick Violette on and he was pretty upset with the ending of the open house and seemed to hint at \"more sensible\" heads prevailing and bringing it back in some fashion next year with local sponsorship. Steve had a very good blast at a lot of the local media blasting NYRA for price increases asking where were they with their outrage as the reins of NYRA were snatched by King Andrew and the Klueless clowns?

Interesting Spa meeting ahead with lots of local outrage and speculation about the future of their beloved Spa!!!

Richie, being a cooler aficionado, you might remember that there was a year (at least one) when they were banned, though I don\'t remember the specifics.  One of my compadres with whom I\'ve been attending the Spa for thirty years, has had the same cooler for the duration.  I\'m convinced it will go into the Hall of Fame, upon his passing, though if they can configure a way to get it into his casket, that would probably be his preference.  Anyway, the year the ban went into effect, he wrote a letter to Kenny Noe, who was running the show at the time.  The letter was rather diplomatic and inoffensive, simply expressing dismay at the policy.  Mr. Noe\'s response, paraphrased only slightly, suggested that since drinking beer was more important to my friend than the race track experience, his concerns were not the track\'s concerns.

NYRA has always had a deft touch with customer appreciation.
