Harvey Pack fans remember this line OH SO WELL; the ones that were touted from Maine to Spain.

I\'m used to this every summer at the Spa with tons of well meant expensive stock coming out of the box and everyone is betting with both hands. Gulfstream has 4 MSW races today lot\'s of well bred runners all running for the paltry purse of 45K while garbage MCL are circling the inner tube for a 50K pot and the MSW there is for 60K.

The 4th race today at GULF had a lot of nice pedigree\'s making their debut, Performance Bonus was hammered at the windows to 6/5 from a 4/1 morning line and ran for a little while before fading in the lane. Now realize I live in Chad Brown country and his family, friends, stable help and all their family and friends crank up the drum beat anytime he has something good going. This one was off the radar screen!

Yesterday I was up north and stopped at the Racino for lunch and to bet a couple horses on the way back home. Before I gobbled down my 1/2 turkey and swiss sandwich on rye which was like a full sandwich and a cup of Manhattan chowder, more like a bowl with chips and picked for $6.50 I was touted by 4 people on this horse. I seldom venture into the harness/casino den of inequity and of the crowd of maybe 200 I saw maybe 6 or 8 familiar faces. 2 of the Chad promoters I had no idea who they were? Ok its noted, so I went to the bar for a drink and said to myself if Ray
(the 30 year plus bartender there) touts me on this horse Forget About It. Guess what Ray said after hey Frank?

Today I ventured into to tele theater to grab a look at the sheets for the Gulf stakes pick 4 and X-Country pick 4 and guess what? Now for those of you unfamiliar with the new tele\'s layout there are 2 bars in a L-shape around the corner from each other in separate rooms, now I generally will know 75% of the room by name and another 20% by familiar face. Does anyone care to guess the over/under on how many bar stools I had walked by before I got my 4th tout of the 6 I received and ignored all by the way?

The moral of the story is the OTHER Chad Brown horse in the race Lieutenant Colonel won with a bit of comfort and paid $23 and change. As I walked out the door a friend was coming in, one who did not tout me and said can you believe I bet the Wrong Chad Brown horse!!! You can\'t make this stuff up.

Good luck,

Frank D.

There certainly wasn\'t any Bonus for that Performance!

I feel your pain, Frank.  I once subscribed to Bruno\'s workout report to check out two Chad Brown maiden firsters in the same race.  I figured that would be worthwhile information.  Well, one of the two was a standout and crushed the other in the workout.  The faster went off 6/5 and the other 5-1.  You can guess who won!

Shared Belief 106 Beyer.... Dortmund 103 Beyer....Far From Over 96 Beyer...Constitution 113 Beyer(Projection Voodoo)

Toughest beat all day was Firing Line when Gary Stevens showed how weak he is in the last 1/8th with an equal horse. Not a chance Firing Line gets beat yesterday with a stronger finisher on his back.

Withers winner,Far From Over, being somewhat over rated off stumble while the protracted front end war that set him up being ignored, the front two crawled late, justifiably so.

Three year old Derby picture very open with many fast ones already putting up competitive Derby figs......but it may be too early.See which ones have the resiliency to absorb big efforts and move forward.
