Just curious. Are there any guys who use the Thorograph sheets and make a living from betting? I\'m talking making a profit of course but one that would exceed 100k a year.

Good question.  I always wondered the same if you can make a living betting Horses?  I know a lot of guys that make a living betting sports.

joemama

Could a number be put on \"a lot of guys\"?

Boscar Obarra

He must mean all the bookmakers.

Way more sports bettors beating that game than so called horse betting pros that are beating racing.

Prior to the days of racing rebates, there was data from a consulting firm which indicated that only 5-7% of regular horse players were beating the game over the long term. With rebates, would think the % of winners is now higher.

5-7% ? is there a missing decimal point in that stat?

And of course more sports bettors \'beat\' the game, but as for making anything resembling a living, I doubt it\'s a significant figure.

Poker I can see, as they are feeding off suckers and play against a very low takeout.

I know one guy in Chicago, but he\'s not a TG user.

I\'m sure there are a few more that I don\'t know.

Rick B, are you talking about \"Moe\" in Chicago?  By far the most disciplined player that I\'ve ever met if it\'s him.

Rick B.

Don\'t know Moe.

The guy I am thinking of is Jim Benes, he of
the NHC Championship a couple of years ago.

Truly nice guy, but I don\'t say a word to
him during the workday. Afterwards, a soda
or maybe a beer, and he\'s on his way home
to Dad duties.

One incredibly focused human.

I believe Mr. Benes won NHC national tourney at Las Vegas in 2013.
