From DRF:

At 6AM when the track was slower, Tonalist worked five furlongs in 101.94....
Tonalist worked in bar shoes on both front feet... trainer Cristophe Clement
said that Tonalist shed the frogs on both front feet after his win May 10 in
the Peter Pan Stakes.

\"In the Peter Pan he ran with Queens plates. He did not have bar shoes to
protect him\" Clement said. \"We\'ll keep the bar shoes on until the Belmont
Stakes. Its not that big of a deal.\"

Clement said Tonalist had some foot issues in Florida this winter and trained
in bar shoes leading up to the Peter Pan, which he won over a sloppy track. He
will wear regular shoes in the Belmont Stakes.

Clement is a masterful trainer. I\'m sure he employs the best farrier
available. One might infer or deduce that the sloppy Peter Pan track may have
benefitted a colt who had hoof problems, don\'t know.

Bar Shoes kiss of death. His work was uninspiring yesterday. Will be tough read for dry Belmont track which is unkind to horses that run down or have tender frogs.

Another variable.

I\'d never seen him work before, but I agree that both visually and by the clock the work was poor.
