Their plight is all to common and a lesson for all businesses.

Geez I thought I was in the newspaper publishing business only to find out I was really in the business of satisfying the informational needs of racing fans.

Geez I thought I was in the business of making speed figures only to find out I was really in the business of ? ...satisfying the knowledge needs of serious US racing patrons.

The customer is the business! What would satisfy his really important wants.

Knowledge is the  business! What do we do well that others have difficulty with.

Remembering - What exists, products, thinking, customers, etc is getting old and obsolete. The knowledge of a business needs constant renewal and improvement.

The preceding is my paraphrasing of Peter Drucker.

Denial would be a coping strategy. Like CC is no faster than a number of others or he was faster as a two year old.

I wonder how much they lost a couple of years ago when they couldn\'t get BC forms out in time due to Sandy.  You\'d think they\'d have a backup plan for events like that.

Things were even worse after 9/11. Jerry can attest to that. Not only could people not get their business open they couldn\'t get people down there to get it open. DRF went to some type of throwback version of the PP\'s and Form initially.

Its a good company, a historic brand and run by good people. They will figure it......
