I don\"t think they pick the post positions for the derby till 5 PM or so Wednesday.  In that case they\'d have to blow out Thursday morning??

OOps.  Belay me last.  Two posts above refer to Thursday blowout.  It\'s early, or late depending on ones point of view.

Here\'s something anecdotal, for what it\'s worth--

I\'ve been told that the only Pletcher Derby horse who ever came in early was Super Saver (right after the Oaklawn race, didn\'t go back to Fla).

All the horses that have ran at Keeneland in the past go straight to CD as well. Bluegrass, Lexington Stakes, It wouldn\'t make since to ship them to KY back to FL just to ship again to KY. But yes Super Saver did come straight to CD after his Ark Derby 2nd place finish. Danza came straight here as well if I am correct.

If you use his horses that came from Keeneland and add Super Saver wonder what his record reflects in the Derby?? Basically exclude horses that came from FL.

jerrybrown@thorograph.com, or post here (preferably in a format the guys here can go to work on, like they did with the dosage/TG stuff).

As I recall TAP shipped Verrazano in early last year as well.  I believe I posted about this on the board and how it was different from his usual practice of shipping in from FL right at the deadline.  I wondered why the sudden about face with that colt last year.

Now this year TAP has more or less conceded shipping them all in for at least one work over the CD surface and says this is important.  Complete flip flop from what he has always done in the past, Super Saver aside.  So his runners bear watching to see if they fall apart like VER did last year leading up to the big race.
