Combating a losing streak

I have been on a losing streak for 2 years now. I was doing awesome from Jan 1999 up to September 2000 when I was making on the ponies more than $500 a week every week for about 20 months.
What bust it up? Well, I was at Belmont Park one day sitting in the 3rd floor grandstand (which was fairly empty since it was a Wednesday) when this approx. 70 year old guy comes over and sits right next to me. I was thinking why in the world would he sit next to me when the stands were empty? So he falls asleep and I can now hear him snoring. I was like \"are you kidding me?\"

Five minutes later, he was dead. Out cold. Right there next to me. Ever since then, this game has been nothing but a money losing curse.

I\'ve tried everything. Changing my handicapping styles, spot playing, taking time off, betting small or big depending on the situation, different wagering patterns, different tracks, concentrating on certain wager types, percentage of bankroll plays, sticking to WPS bets. You name it, I\'ve done it. This losing streak has stuck to me like white on rice.

What would you do or suggest in my case short of quitting the game? I\'ve even tried that, but the game is in my blood. Taking racing out would be akin to taking the red out. But I\'m not going to lie to you, this streak is eating me up and is by far the worst streak I\'ve ever had in 20 years of playing.

Also, what have YOU done to try to end a losing streak?

a-Move away from the body and notify the authorities

b-Are you in anyway responsible for his death? If so, please ignore me

c-GA; and I don\'t mean Georgia

d-If you don\'t like c, consider purchasing a rabbit\'s foot

I believe in luck and runs etc etc but this sounds bad.  I would try to change things e.g.

1. If you bet by phone or internet - cancel these accounts.  Make sure you have to work to place your bet (e.g. walk/drive to OTB).  Let\'s face it - your confidence is low and you may be placing bad bets.  this may help in eliminating some.

2. Analyze, analyze , analyze.  I trust you keep records.  In every bad streak there may be a good streak hidden.  Maybe you\'re better at allowance vs maiden or sprints vs routes etc etc  just quit what you\'re weakest at.

I disagree. First check to see if the deceased is clutching a winning trifecta ticket. Then proceed to a.

Hard Head Hal

1. Stay away from the race track
2. Stop gambling
3. Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord

What do you mean your luck ran out ,you could have dpopped dead. Hang in it comes and goes.

To answer some statements:

>>>>>>>>>GA- and I don\'t mean Georgia
Might as well be Georgia. No tracks there. And I wouldn\'t purchase a rabbit\'s foot. I mean, it wasn\'t too lucky for the rabbit was it?

>>>>>>>>>>>If you bet by phone or internet - cancel these accounts..........your confidence is low and you may be placing bad bets

First, I would not wish to cancel my internet account simply because I do not want to pay NYCOTB a 6% surcharge on my winning wagers. Second, I prefer to play at home in comfort as opposed to an OTB office where bathing is simply an option amongst the patrons. Third, my Brisbet account keeps wagering records instantly which is a huge help. It has told me that within the past year, I have made a profit only on Win & Place bets, so lately that\'s what I\'m sticking with. I have shown a loss on all other wager types. I do not have a strength on any specific types of race, but I am very weak on graded stakes which I avoid.
In regards to bad bets, I do not believe that I am making bad bets on a whole. True, I do make one or two every now and then, but they\'re kept to a minimum. Discipline isn\'t a problem. I can easily sit for 3-4 races without placing a bet.
Thank you \"fastspeed\" for your advice.

>>>>>>>>>>First check to see if the deceased is clutching a winning trifecta ticket

Checked already. All he had was $1.38, a K2 calculator, a stick of Juicy Fruit gum, and an old $2 show ticket from Bowie Race Course.

First visit a voodoo princess in Haiti or New Orleans. Have her make you Ragozin, Friedman, Brown and Beyer dolls. Gather old DRF\'s, some old T-Graph and Ragozin sheets and some form of race track tip sheets (they must be bought not from the grandstand floor. Afterall, it\'s your bad luck that you\'re trying to get rid of!).

Make four equal piles in your tracks parking lot, one pile facing north, south, east and west, apply accelerant and ignite. Add one doll to each pyre to appease the Racing Gods!

Be sure to bring brats, dogs and marshmallows in case it doesn\'t work! ;-)

Bring along hotdogs, brats and marshmallows just in case it doesn\'t......... ;-)

May they all come home safely!
