Hard to believe that its been 1967 since we have had a Triple Crown Winner. I dont mean the 4-legged kind but a Bat and.Ball type. For gods sake there have only been 3 since 1950. The last Tiger to do it was Ty Cobb who slugged all of 9 homers that year. One thing for sure by playing tonite Cabrera isnt trying to back into it. 165 RBI\'s for Gehrig. I wonder if he.batted before or after the Babe. Numbers still matter in Baseball. League Leader in pitching Wins is 21. 21??? For GODS Sake Steve Carlton had that by Sept 1 every year. Anyway I hope he does it. Remember this is the same guy who has battled some personal adversity about this same time a couple a years.
Sometimes you have to.expereince the worst of yourself to bring out the best of yourself...

You beat me to it, Silver.

Ruth hit 3rd, Gehrig 4th.

Other fun facts. Ted Williams did not win MVP in either of his TC years. One year after Hornsby won his second TC for the Cards, they traded him. Lesson? Be nice to the media, and your teammates.

I wonder how many more TCs Williams would have won if not for his time away during the war?
