Congrats to Ms Piermarini.

Suffolk Downs has been a \"Dead Track Walking\" for what, about 30 years?

New York racing will survive (too big to fail?), though NYRA as we know it will
not. I spent an entire day at Belmont a couple of Saturdays back and was impressed
by the relative youth (though not the size) of the crowd.

Not so lucky, Fort Erie, a track I always wanted to visit but apparently will be
closing.

Racing\'s problems are not without solutions. While it might be an imposing task
to unify ALL the states where racing is currently conducted, it probably starts
with unifying (for starters) the MAJOR racing states: NY, Cal, KY, Fla, and
Illinois.

Unrelated note, TG\'s meteorologist, Frank D, has given me a less than encouraging
weather report for the Capitol Region for Friday; might have to steal a page from
General George S. Patton\'s playbook and stop in at St Pat\'s on the way to work
tonight and ask for some divine climatic intervention...

My trips to fort erie in the late 80\'s and early 90\'s with my mom and dad were epic. I took them everwhere, I always had a better time at the track with mom and dad, as they always turned the blind eye to the occasional smoke, and I mean SMOKE. The part we never understood was that you could not drink at the track, they had a special room to drink in. No beers or drinks in the stands or aprons. So, being what me and my father were, we spent most of the days in that room. Now, we are making, mom, dad, and my 2 boys are 8th annual trip to Lake George and Saratoga, my boys love it. My wife and daughter stay home, its always the trip of the century, beacuse how much time is left for an 84yr old partier and his 80 yr old wife, being in health care, the call can come anytime. GOOD LUCK AT THE SPA
