Wow, the jock nearly blew that!  22-0 what a great mare.

13.2 million dollars \'traded\' on Betfair on that race. If Nolan gets beat in that fashion, i\'m not sure if he would have escaped there in one piece.

The victory, however narrow, is the crowning achievement of a record-breaking career that now stands at 22 starts without defeat, for 12 Group Ones and total prize money of $6.3 million.

Trainer Peter Moody shook off the tight victory, saying \"you\'ve only got to win by a quarter of an inch\".

\"We never expect dominance. We\'ve never asked her for dominance. We are extremely proud of her,\" he said.

\"I am an extremely proud Aussie. Words can\'t describe the feeling.\"

But Nolan was apologetic despite the triumph, admitting that he misjudged the track as he stopped riding Black Caviar well before the line.

\"I probably just underestimated the testing track at Ascot,\" Nolan said.

\"They are going to talk more about my brain fart than her fantastic performance.

\"Hopefully my performance hasn\'t overshadowed what was a great effort by the whole team.\"

The win is just rewards for Black Caviar\'s owners who were determined to see their great mare showcase her unique talent on the world stage.

Wow the Jock completely stopped riding well before the race was done..amazing that when he realized she still kicked back..they would have put him on the Barbie when they got home if he blew that race..

So she won a race at Royal Ascot despite the jock mishap and an injury..I would say she is pretty good..Sighthound, is this a common injury ?  Do horses come back from it often?

She has a history in the past of right front suspensory ligament strain (she\'s been off twice for that in the past) and tearing her chest muscles and coming back from that.  This time she tore two muscles in her back/hindquarters.  We don\'t know how severe it is.  You could see her running style changed and she definitely wasn\'t 100% at the last quarter of the race.

Yet she still won.  Amazing mare.

She\'s a powerfully built mare, with a big stride, and big strong muscles.  Muscle tears are not that common, as most horses are not as muscled and fast/hard runners as she is.

Connections wanted another race in England, then were going to end her career with possibly the Breeders Cup in US.   Now she\'ll be back in Australia and those plans are over.  The owners are pretty keen on racing her, so we\'ll see what they decide on retirement vs. trying to come back and run in only 4 months.  That\'s a push unless the muscle tears are very minor.  

BUT - they have not said already, \"Okay, that\'s it, she\'s done and she\'ll retire on her unbelievable undefeated Group One record\".   That indicates to me they want to get her home, let her rest (she\'s exhausted) and see how she will do and give her a month, see how it looks.

PRELIMINARY scans have isolated Black Caviar\'s muscle tear to her quadriceps, giving Peter Moody confidence the mighty mare will get the opportunity to extend her unbeaten streak during the Melbourne spring carnival [October in Australia]
