Full fields, two BC winners entered, and \"only\" 3 maiden races...

Wait until they close down Aqueduct completely, and ruin Belmont by tearing up those beautiful wide expanses of turf to put in a winterized track, and enclose the grandstand for winter racing.

TGJB

Based on the press release about the purses at Belmont and Saratoga, they\'re going to do okay. The real qustion is, now that OTB is closed and they will take the handle on GP, SA, and FG, whether they will figure out to take a break over the winter.

Silver Charm

TGJB if they do close for the Winter where will those horses and outifts go. They certainly cant come and compete down here in Florida. Maybe Tampa? I am sure there is a place but it costs money for some of the people and help.

TGJB

Why can\'t they stay here and ship to Parx, if they have to run at all? Good purses there.

If they do shut for 2 months they\'ll have bigger fields and bigger purses when they do run.

Silver,

Don\'t know what JB thinks but eliminating winter racing and cheap maiden NY Breds may cull the garbage mares being bred and improve quality over time.

Garbage mares being bred in backyards upstate NY is how this problem arose. Eliminating a venue for these slow rats, ie. Aqueduct winter racing, will help the NY racing game over time.Typically, the Clueless Clowns are encouraging poor quality by giving away big purses to very slow horses.

Broke

TGJB

Aside from there being racing in other places-- did everyone go broke when they used to close for the winter here? (Back in Miff\'s day...).

\"Garbage mares being bred in backyards upstate NY\"

Still laughing at the image of it.

No, but that was back in the day when pretty much the only \"NY Breds\" at the NY tracks were people, not horses.

As recently as 10 years ago, winter racing on the inner tube was very bettable.

NYRA could have a dynamite winter meet. The huge purses might get some Jersey
and New England outfits which currently hibernate to race in wintertime and
fields would be full.

Junk NYB racing as it currently exists, stakes races only. Buy Hayward and
Campo(who will only grow more complacent with the influx of racino dough) gold
watches and give them Hazel Dukes\' travel agent\'s phone number.

This wagering in the restaurant idea is thinking small. Open two large modern
upscale teletheatres, one in Manhattan and one in Staten Island. Charge a
tenspot at the door to keep the old OTB element out of the place.

Both Aqueduct and Belmont will continue into the future. The idea of a large
covention center at Ozone Park was widely laughed at, because there is nothing
you can do in that part of the City to make it a desirable convention
destination.

Cant think of \"coventions\" without thinking of another
great \"Semi-Tough\" line, when Big Ed Bookman described a certain football
player as \"having more moves than a hooker at a convention.\"

Albany objects, strenuously.
