Going into the third race both surfaces were holding and favored closers...post and race shape figured to have a say.

3rd:   Aggressive pace favored Giant Oak, but the machine runs best at shorter distances...guessing this race collapsed as Afleet Again circled back to a 2...winner had a buried, circling pattern set up by a brisk prep at the wrong distance...shrewd preparation by Reid.
4th:   Two more Euro contenders benefited from lasix...the clockers described Caspar as a sprinter, confirmed during the warm-up...had to be tossed without lasix...Lucky Chappy\'s last had to be tossed if you read the trip notes in Italy...stood out over Bourbon field...Excaper\'s pattern looked a lot better if you viewed his last on synthetic as a conditioner.
5th:   Force Freeze, a very good horse before he left America, looked like a different animal with lasix and should have been favored...the winner\'s pattern invoked Musical Romance...BC races are too tough if the conditions aren\'t ideal, compromising Aikenite and Jackson Bend(who ran great)...finally, training setbacks are hard to overcome.
6th:   Another sprint that went to experts at the condition...Caracortado ran huge in the wrong spot, like Jackson...some were a step slower this year.
7th:   Pace hurt some of these...Shackleford is one tough cookie, getting second
against the shape...Trappe Shot did not belong here...Tapizar is a horse to watch.
8th:   Euro\'s with lasix dominated...Sarafina sans lasix never figured...the Belmont proved to be a key race, establishing the stamina of Brilliant Speed.
9th:   Hansen\'s forward pair impressive given the spacing...synthetic to dirt trumps turf to dirt...great pattern on Union Rags...ran big despite post...no
back-up pattern on Creative Cause.
10th:  Older horses generally benefit from less dances, more spacing...Goldi had a tough campaign for a 6YO.
11th:  Game on Dude so impressive against the bias...barn learned you can\'t restrain this one...those who went with him died...possible collapse behind with
just one horse firing with the shape...Havre de Grace is not Zenyatta, who might have won this year\'s edition.
