Turf Racing and Jockeys

If you don\'t think jocks matter that much on the turf (as in I\'m betting the horse not the rider), just watch the replay of the Lake Placid and how to get a 2-5 shot beat.

Jose Lezcano is one of the better turf Jockeys.He was on a horse that didn\'t seem comfortable on that turf course today. It did not matter who was on WINTER MEMORIES today she was not good enough to win.

Maybe but WM won of a course similar to today at Belmont last year. Worse ride by a jockey in a stake race that I\'ve seen in awhile, would not be shocked if Lezcano gets taken off.

Any jock that doesn\'t know the turf rail has been crap the last few days should not be allowed to ride a 2/5 shot.

Winding up ON the wood in the final 1/8 proves cluelessness.

I would be shocked if that wasn\'t his last ride on that filly. He got her beat in the BC, got her in a lot of needless trouble last time, and Ramon rode both of those horses this trip. If she gets the trip Hugnry had she probably wins agian and how hard is it to take back and loop when you are on pounds the best horse? If you get beat then, it\'s probably ground loss and weight - easier for a trainer and owner to deal with for sure. Momentum is king especailly on soft and yielding courses.

You all should go watch the race again. Jose Lezcano Did Not Cost her the race. Not once did he check the horse.He did not have enough horse to win this race. By the way how did Jose Lezcano do Sat. I think he won the Alabama!

Not saying he\'s a terrible jockey - just not a good ride especially on a horse that is supposed to win given an uneventful trip. Yes she was rank, she usually is and she does not like to be between horses. Ramon rode herd on her the whole race and beat her a neck for third. That\'s what he is supposed to try and do. It\'s Lezcano\'s job not to let it happen. He failed. Just my observation.

Lozcano ok rider. His perfect trip/ride in the Alabama does not excuse riding the much the best horse going in, WM,from being \"under ridden\" and wrangled to submission.

Kool Aid drinkers who had Rat-manblu \'faster\' are free to private message me for head to head bet if/when WM/Rat-manblu(perfect trip slug) face off again.
