This Gotham field stinks

There\'s pletny of interesting 3 year olds this year but I don\'t see any of them in the Gotham

Stay Thirsty has run 1 good number and is completely overrated because he trains with Uncle Mo.  We never know when a 3 year old is going to jump up so he could win but he\'s not going to get my money.

Tobby\'s Corner looks ok and I guess he\'s the most likely winner.

The others are glorified claiming horses.

Weakest Gotham field we have seen in some time in my opinion.

Which is sad.  It\'s cliche, but I remember the good ol\' days when you had top fields in NY, FL and CA for the Derby preps and all contenders ran in the series of races designed to get a horse in condition to run in all three TC races.  Now we get horses targeting two races to prep in and we are lucky if horses run in two of the three TC races.  OH well.  Times do change.  Not excited about the Gotham.

Might be right about Stay Thirsty.  Seems to hit the wire alongside Uncle Mo, so his performance in the Gotham might tell us something about Uncle Mo\'s form.

U ain\'t kidding...Besides a terrible Gotham..You can choose from three stakes races with only five  betting interests..If you don\'t like those four races.  They still got plenty of 7500 claimers, Maiden Claimers and the highlight of the day.. a state bred MSW..
I miss the good old days..

P-Dub...how is the card looking on the West Coast?

NYRA should be embarrassed, but they\'re not. Their talking heads(Serling et al) will be telling you how \"interesting\" the card is.Garbage!!

Covelj,

I respectfully disagree.  Not on the Gotham as a bettable race, but about Stay Thirsty.  I think the horse is interesting.  Yes, he has the 1 big fig, but how many big figs do you want a 2 year old to have?

He only needs to have developed a 2 or 3 points from his 2 year old top by the Derby to be a contender.  He is a Bernardini out of a Storm Bird mare (I think), so despite his awful run in the BC Juvenile, he should not be bothered by the distance.

If you take the stance that he was \"over the top\" by the BC Juvenile race, he had a reasonable 2 year old foundation and now will be relatively fresh going into this year\'s derby, if he gets there.

And he gets Ramon, who for my money, is the best.

Disclaimer.  I have money on him at 40-1 in the futures......

Wrongly

How about a Toby\'s Corner with Dawly exacta?

Whats up Lost?

Cal racing has too many short fields, but if you pick your spots there are some nice races to hit.

I\'m at Santa Anita this weekend, annual Big Cap trip with the fellas.  Beautiful weather, low 70\'s all weekend.

The cards this weekend are pretty good.  4 turf races today, few races were short.   Three GR 1 races tomorrow, Kilroe Mile and the Oaks. Good sized fields, looks like a good race day.

Saw Kenny Mayne today,  owns a small piece of Kilograeme.  Nice guy, chatted for a bit.

Jimbo,

He was definitely worth a play at 40-1.  As you say, if I am wrong (happens about 1000x a day) and he\'s not a one figure horse, he could be live from here on.

I won\'t be playing this one as I think Toby\'s Corner will be short as well so I will root you home in this one big fella.

Has the intense speed bias still been there?  Tried doing the boycott thing with west coast so I haven\'t been keeping up but NY will give me no choice but to play there this week.

I\'m surprised that no one else came up with this ?

Stay Thirsty is eligible for the 9th race. A 7500 NW of 2 lifetime and under the conditions he would get 7 lbs. from Bawana Jake !

Only 4 of the 9 entrants in a Grade1 have ever beat winners !!!

Enough said.
